Hearns pretty clearly, think I had it 7 - 5 in rounds plus the two knockdowns. Leonard really did nothing for large portions of the fight.

I've just watched it again & thats my tally under the 10 point must, 7-5 + 2 knockdowns for Hearns = 115-111

    10-9,
    10-9,
    10-8,
    9-10,
    9-10,
    10-9,
    9-10,
    10-9,
    10-9,
    9-10,
    10-8,
    9-10.

Absolutely no way could i give Leonard a 10-8 for the last round, what a joke as Hearns was well on top for the 1st minute & 15 seconds & although got well whacked by leonard he was still trying to fire back, simple 10-9 for Leonard & no more.

On my own score i had 2 rounds even 1-6 which i gave to Hearns for just making more effort under the must system even though nearly all punches from both of them missed. In the 6th both were totally out of it. Leonard was as slow as treacle & would have been wiped out early by any of the up & coming contenders of the day IMO

My personal card is the is the same as i saw it last time at 115-113 for Hearns.

Something similar. Hearns winning by at least 3 points if I remember correctly.

    Hearns clearly won that fight.
    7-5 in rounds + 2 KDs = 115-111
I watched it 3 times and I can't believe that anybody can honestly score that fight for Leonard.

On ten point must the fight is close. And I stand by my statement, that anyone who does not score the 12th 10/8 to Leonard, is being driven by their hatred (and I agree it is very easy to hate Ray) towards the ego.

Tommy gave Ray hell, and the fight will always be on the highlight reel of The Motor City Cobra's career, but it was a very, very close fight, because of the scoring system.

I disagree with you regarding the 10-8 for Leonard, i just don't see how that can be justified as Tommie was well on top for the first minute + until ray got the jump on him. I've just watched the 1st fight again & in the 7th round Leonard battered Hearns around all 4 corners of the ring lituraly for the whole 3 minutes, total domination as he went in for the kill & that did'nt get a 10-8, it got the 10-9 & none of the commentators mentioned it should be a 10-8 so as far as i'am concerned in the 12th of the 2nd fight Leonard really only retrieved a round he was on his way to losing.

In the 2nd fight if goes without saying that it was a toughie to score as it swung to & fro every 15 seconds or so of most rounds & proberbly 95% of the punches missing each other. So little real scoring shots only highlights in excess the ones that did land. I could have had 4 of those rounds even but with the must system i just went with the man who attempted more.

I'll never give a 10-8 round unless it's a real & total domination & the 12th was'nt IMO & it's not a hate thing with me as i've too much respect for all of them as prizefighters. But i can't give Leonard more than 5 as he really did'nt do alot except throw the right hand bomb only ever now & again.

Leonard knows who really won that fight & as a huge Hearns fan thats all that matters.
I luv seeing Ray taste the canvas twice. The look on his face was priceless.

I love this fight, because as a SRL fan, Tommy Hearns got to make his statement and get his peace of mind, without really avenging his loss in the first fight.

Ray Leonard is the only high profile fight I have EVER heard admit defeat to his opponents face. Thats gotta give Hearns a lot of satisfaction. Must have sucked living with the first fight for 8 years, and I'm glad those demons were exorcised.

I don't see how not scoring this round 10-8 makes anyone a hater:

Leonard got cleaned up on early in the round, until managing to hurt Hearns bad and more than returning the favour, but he did not knock Hearns down. Leonard's will to win is the stuff of legends though.
