Maybe i'm and idiot? ....I just think the fact that there are 8 weight classes under lightweight is ridiculous.

That said, I believe the Minimum (105), Jr. Fly(108), and Flyweight(112) should be consolidated into one division....Super fly(115), Bantam(118) and Super Bantam(122) should be another....It would make the champions alot more legitimate and easier to follow and ppl would care more and maybe they'd get more tv time...maybe

Because you got a bunch of 8 ) put together.

Personally I'd like to see 130 and 135 combined. All of the good talent at 130 is openly flirting with 135 anyway, might as well seal the deal.

Interesting idea and I kind of agree.

At heavyweight on the other hand I think that it might not be bad to add one or two divisions. Look at Valuev. That's not fair matchmaking anymore. A 320lb guy vs for example a 220lb guy:patsch 100 pounds weight difference!!

My conclusion: above 200lb it's ridiculous because there are no other divisions and in the lower weightclasses there should be less.

NB.: If they would make divisions above 200lb who would Valuev be fighting? That's a problem.

Yeah I see what you mean at heavyweight too....Are there enough "super heavyweights" though to make it necessary.....Heavyweight itself is pretty talent deprived!

Just make it Flyweight, Bantam, Feather, Light, Light Welter, Welter, Middle, Super Middle, Light Heavy (though I'd be tempted to toss that these days), Cruiser, and Heavy.
It's not that hard, and get rid of the entire WBA while you're at it.

Part of me really wants to see how things would work put were the original 8 weight classes still in play.

Flyweight and Heavyweight! Only joking. HW @ CW- other than that I reckon all of the 'Super' weight classes should be merged with their original weight class. It won't happen though- health and safety is the main reason- add that to the fact that on the back of the health and safety train the sanctioning bodies now have more champions by having more weight classes and, importantly from their view, that means more sanctioning fees.

I STRONGLY disagree with CW and HW being merged.......I know traditionally anything over 175 was HW (Marciano fought around 175) but you gotta understand athletes today are a lot bigger and stronger than the athletes of yesteryear. A 200lb fighter shouldnt be in the ring with a 250lber.....

I think the reason many say CW and HW should be merged is because of the current lack of talent at especially the CW division. There is a place for the division though....take Adamek....he's too weight drained at LH but is too small a frame for HW.....CW is perfect for him....its definitely a difficult division to campaign out of though....not like you can just drop to LH the way you can drop from LH to SM or from SM to Middle.....

In fairness, this is just a hypothetical arguement. I'm just saying that if I could change it all then that is what I would do. Less of the 'Super' weight categories could make for some really interesting bouts throughout the weight classes with a clear champion at the weight recognisable. If a lot of the HW greats of yesteryear were to fight now they would most probably weigh in as Cruisers anyway- that was my arguement in a nutshell.

130 should be the lowest weight, Im tempted to say 126 should be the lowest but if you can make 126 you can make 130
