One thing I would certainly like to see is a standardisation of the naming of the weight divisions - is there any need, for instance, for light middleweight, junior middleweight and super welterweight?

Why not just call it light middleweight and have done with it?

I think 8 was too few, 17 too many, but which do you get rid of?

Certainly reduce cruiser from 200 to 190 though.

Also, if Ring enforced mandatory challengers against No. 1 contenders, the alphabet soup may turn into water and hopefully drain away!

oh ****, just deleted a ****ing long text.

short version: i agree with icevins.

compress it to bantamweight. then feather, light, welter, middle, lhw, cruiser

then it starts getting complicated. i don't want mutants. so maybe limit hw to like 100kg, 105, 110.. whatever.. and then introduce a "mutant" class. it has to be called mutant weight, so the heavyweight title is still first choice for the best ones. who wants to be mutant champion of the world?

    HW - 200-275

There should be a limit so fighters have great conditioning

    Why?

Valuev won a belt and he was over that weight.

Those are all real good points. Light Middle/Super Welter/WTF? And 8 is too few. There's a very good reason for SMW and JWW.

there's a thread on this once a month, so you know it needs to happen. they should go back to the original divisions, plus 1 (maybe 2) additional to account for overall increased size

Im pretty unique as ive no problem with that. Its far better for the fighters financially and in terms of opportunities.Theyre the ones taking punches to make ends meet,so im not too fussed if its not better for the fans.

Moreover it would become too U.S. Centric. The 'world' title would become the 'American' title, with it being pretty difficult for non Americans to get shots, while they mainly fought there own countrymen. It was too USA centric when it was just WBC/WBA.
Also non Americans were bumping each other off for lesser British, commonwealth,European belts.
Something U.S. fighters dont have to do,which always irritated me as a kid.
Sorry i just remember **** like Johnny Bumphus vs Gene Hatcher as a kid and thinking this wouldnt be a world title fight if they were from another country.

I see your point; thing is, I'm more a fan of the lower weight divisions, where there are **** all Americans to speak of. The opinion I expressed was personally my own one, and therefore wouldn't work for everybody.

Heavyweight is fine; maybe could use Super Heavyweight.
I think moving the Cruiserweight limit to 200 was perfect.
    Move Lt Heavyweight to 180.
    Get rid of Super Middleweight.
    Move Middleweight to 165
    Get rid of Light Middleweight.
    Make Welterweight 150.
    Get rid of Jr Welterweight.
    Lightweight is fine.
    Combine Feather/Jr Feather
    Comine Bantam/Jr Bantam
    Combine Flyweight/Jr Flyweight
Get rid of Strawweight - who the hell wants to watch 100 lb men fight? That's like creating a breed of dog called "Teacup Pit Bull".

That leaves 9, possible 10 divisions - a nice round number.

Some of the massive heavyweights dont win on skill. Theyre like big dumb bears.

Might as well let king kong ****ing fight.. where will it end?
