either side of 6'6" and 225lbs plus...

it's not a weight issue, it's Height and Reach, very, very few (Super) Heavyweights today under 6'4"

Its not so much about weight as it is skill/style and you have to have a punch thats not even debatable for anyone venturing below 210 . Super Heavyweight would also figure about 225...so thats your answer in a trick question of what weight you need to be to be a top SHW. A fighter of 200/215 may get a few top wins like byrd who was a really good fighter ,but the bigger SHW's have wins over him...imop Golota too. Byrd wouldnt be a top SHw bc he wasnt as big as one. Povetkin would.

A guy wih great technique and blistering power like Joe Louis (~210lb or less) could KO anybody. Likewise Dempsey at 195 could put a dent in anybody's day if he landed. I laugh at Willard a lot, but if there's one thing that SOB was, is tough. And Dempsey wrecked him. I rate Marciano at 185 lb as heavy handed even for today's heavies.

That all said, I think for a guy to be favoured over an elite super heavy, you're probably looking at 220lb roughly. And then we're talking a stringbean type fellow.

The reason is simply that he needs a long enough reach to be able to compete to some extent in the jabbing and in getting his shots off before getting tied up. Either that or he has to be incredibly explosive or have godly footwork and body movement to get inside without getting shoeshined by the jab.

So "skilled super heavyweight" is just 4-6 people right?

    Lewis
    Bowe
    Klitschkos
    Joshua and Fury too?
    So 6 people?

So you're asking which 190-210 beat one of these 6? I think nobody besides Holyfield.

Can a smaller HW beat one of them? Sure.

Oh, for fck sakes would you give the Klitschkos a break for a single post?

This is an interesting thread without you derailing it as per usual.

We don't need another tko6 thread.

    Thanks.

Who is in Lewis, Bowes, and Klitschkos class?

You basically barred everyone else out from the discussion.

    Your sample isn't "skilled SHWs".
    It's "Legendary SHWs"

Yeah this is true too. Someone like Dimetrenko was a skilled fighter he was just highly flawed. Nobody is going to tell me he beats Holfyield.

    Good point.

How on earth are the Klitschko's in the same class as Lewis , Bowe and Fury?? Because they're the same size ? lolol:facepalm:

Take Felix Sturm and blow him up to the size of a SHW , thats your Wladimir Klitschko.

Are you going to tell me Sturm was in the same class as Hagler ? :meparto::scream::confundio1:

    I asked the same question.
He's mentioned three boxers and then listed who beat them.

On top of that, he concluded 225 and 238 pound men can knock out 250 pounders.

That's the entirety of his study.

What history tells me is that once you get into the high 180s in terms of lbs., you start to see the kind of firepower that gives the smaller man a chance.

Well, not sure if this answers any questions but muhammad Ali's weight if he was to face the bigger, heavier wlad klitschko. Because ali would defeat him imo and possibly out point him.

I can add more. I'll take it you agree with me that the big men from 1915- 1950 were not as good as the very best are from 1990- present.

    Yes or no?

Do you see any 190-210 pound men from 1990-present besting any of the best big men today?

    Yes or no?

We can add as we go.

There is more to this case study than you think. I purposely left out some data. Once common ground is achieved I can add more.

I can reply for Dino. Just look up any of his older posts and copy and paste.

But I think this thread has potential so aside from mentioning him once i'd rather avoid any back and forth from him.
