    For sparring or bag work?

    I'm 6'1, 209lbs. I use 10 or 12oz for bags and pads, 18oz for sparring.

If you can only have one pair, get 16oz.

12oz are probably your best bet if you want to fight in the amateurs, because you want your training gloves to be at least as heavy as the gloves you will fight in.

I think 12oz gloves are normally used in fights at middleweight or higher, although in some places they seem to use 10oz for all weight classes.

Yeah, 12oz are noticeably different from 16oz.

If you do bag work/spar with 18's will that negatively impact your fight since you need 12's? Obviously the 12's will be smaller which might give you a disadvantage if you are always use to the larger 18's.

I wouldn't think so, unless you normally rely on the size of the 18's to hide your entire head behind. I always feel good putting on the lighter gloves. But I'm not using 18's for everything so I can't be sure, I guess.

i use 10oz for bag and 16oz for sparring.
dont recommend using the same gloves for sparring coz it can damage the gloves (by hitting the heavybag) and then accidently cutting sum1 in sparring

i use 10oz for bag work and mitts and then use 16oz for sparring,i ****ing hate them though.theyre jsut so big im 6'0 and 165lbs and i much prefer smaller gloves or to really pack the 16oz with wraps.i know i have to use 16oz for fighting but they are just so annoying.

you should use 16oz to train on bags and mitts, b/c you build up speed by hitting with heavier gloves. but id suggest training with the size glove you are going to use in a fight for a week or two prior to your fight just to not feel out of rhythm when you actually fight

6ft4" and 220, 14oz Grants for the bag, 16 Twins to spar. What ever you feel comfortable with.

I agree if you can only get one pair get 16's.

i asked my coach the exact question he told me that when your using gloves too heavy then it can 1)hurt your shoulder joints and 2)you will be too use to using force to hold the gloves when punching.

so overall my coach said unless you have been boxing for a while forcefully putting on heavy gloves then you will **** up your shoulder joints and technique
