I could see Wilder losing even more weight and coming in around 205 lbs for AJ, he was his lowest in a long time at 214 lbs vs. Ortiz
I think he'll be about 220. He said he had been sick a little before the Ortiz fight, I don't think that very low weight was planned.
He'll bulk up against AJ. He can't afford to be eaten alive in clinches and up close, so he has to make sure he minimizes that. AJ will bully him all fight long if he decides to go for being light and having movement. He needs to get the right balance. Movement is key against AJ, but at the same time, he's a physical machine and he'll batter you when he closes in on you and you're tiny. Klitschko got his tactics right, he went in very light, but at the same time, Klitschko is naturally a bigger heavy than someone like wilder. Klitschko came in around 240, Wilder is much lighter than that though. I'd suspect Wilder will come in heavier, somewhere around 225-235, I'd have thought a career high weight. If he comes in really light like 215, then AJ will just take his time, be patient, and win a wide decision, Wilder couldn't box if his life depended on it.
I think Wilder has to put on a few pounds for the AJ fight. I remember him mentioning plans to bulk up to 235+ following the Szpilka fight. Looks like that didn't happen. Also, I heard rumors that he was fighting some kind of illness during camp but didn't want to cancel the fight, hence why he only came in @ 214 and change. I'd expect him to be closer to 225 for a Wilder fight, otherwise he will be at a disadvantage. However, that right hand keeps him alive versus anyone on planet Earth.
Wilders not that naive to come in any lighter than 220.... Wilder is 6'7 he's not weighing anything near 210 against a much heavier opponent who is also FAST puncher and make the fight any more difficult . He should weigh about 224 to give him his best chance...He needs to be at a weight he's fought at and balance speed and power BC weighing more and experimenting against Joshua isn't a good idea at all. Stick to a solid weight he can perform comfortably at.
Im still not sure why he came in at 116 or what ever it was. He didnt look any better or any faster, just a bit smaller. He dont need to be coming in anything under 120.
It doesn’t matter what he comes in as Benitom. He’s going to whip Joshua’s ass. Did y’all finish eating y’all crow yet? Lol
Joshua doesn’t fight on the inside. He’s a PED stand straight up stiff boxer. Big punches, blows his wad early and hopes that the PEDS kick in to rescue him.
