What well known boxers have you meet in person?

I was 5'5 when I was 13 and met Morales, the man was taller so I would say 5'7 is fairly accurate. Ron Lyle must still be 6'3 as my Dad is the same height, but looked a tad bit shorter :huh

The rest I can't really give an honest opinion about as I was still growing myself.

 

Muhammad Ali, Amir Khan, Chris Eubank, Prince Naseem

Mike Tyson, Tim Witherspoon, Glen Mcory, Peter Manfredo Jr.

 

The main thing I noticed was much bigger they were than I thought they'd be. The scars around Tyson's eyes are a lot more clear in real life as well.

I met Kostya Tszyu and Jeff Fenech, Kostya at a book signing and bumped into him a couple of times around Sydney. Jeff at a few of his fight nights. Both were nice and took the time to talk with me.

 

met Wlad,he towered over me as iam only 5'8. met a few others as well like amir khan,skinny lad he is with boney hands!

 

Ate dinner next to and talked to Kevin Kelly a few years back at a little Italian restaurant in our neighborhood... it was cool because at the time we both drove the same car so we were talking about it.

Also met Zab Judah while shopping at Town Square... just sort of surprised me.. I was coming out of the parking garage and he as just sitting on a bench holding a young baby and was caressing the baby's cheek, and I smiled at him and said hi and he said hi back.

Met Mike Tyson, was standing behind him in line at Trader Joes... when I realized it was himI wanted to say hi but he didn't seem to be in a good mood. He was yelling at his assistant which I think is now his wife, who was all the way at the other end of the store to bring the debit card. It was an odd moment because everyone was looking at him including the cashier wondering why he was yelling so loud through the store.. didn't seem like a good moment to interrupt him.

Met Antonio Tarver as an extra on the set of Rocky Balboa at Mandalay Bay when they were filming... my gf and I were just free extras in the crowd. Fun experience.

Also met Joe Cortez (the ref) and Marc Ratner (the NSAC at that time) during the same filming of the movie Rocky Balboa. It was just the 2 of them, me and my gf in the elevator and I just said hi to them both. SO funny because about 2 years later I found out this other girl i was hanging out with, her mom and Joe Cortez were dating. Small World.

Also met Al Bernstein (Announcer / Sports Writer) at Walmart like at 11:30pm... He didn't seem friendly to me.. maybe he was just having a bad day.

Was eating at a chinese buffet and ended sitting next to Sergei Liakhovich. It was kinda odd.. I knew he had a fight coming up but he was just there all by himself eating like I was.

Shane Mosley got his haircut where my fiance is a stylist and she asked him for his autograph for me.. I wasn't there but he did sign a paper to me with his name which I still have.

My goal is to be able to meet Floyd soon since he lives a few minutes away from my house and I know where his gym is in China town. I've been wanting to find out if there is any way to be present at his gym when he's training for his next fight.

Those are all the times I can think of off the top of my head..

also as an aside...
Earnie Shavers used to sleep on my best friends couch who's dad was a minister and Earnie would come to town and talk to the congreation and stay at their house while visiting.


Not that it has anything to do with this post but I've met alot of UFC fighters as well as Ariany. Dana White used to be one of my best friend's next door neighbor before moving to his bigger house.

Tim Witherspoon - had a quick chat with at same event

Ricky Hatton - On holiday in puerto banus spain he was hammered with his mates had a quick chat i told him i thought mayweather would knock him out (this was september before the fight) he didnt like it too much and said i was entitled to my opinion)
