What were fights/boxers that a majority of hardcore boxing fans wrongly predicted?

I think despite boxing being unpredictable I've noticed that most of the time the majority of hardcore fans can predict how good a fighter is or the outcome of a fight. One example being Spence-Garcia. Some Garcia fans had hope, others doubted Spence, but I saw a majority of people here stating that the size disparity was too big and that Spence would win. That exactly happened, and that was most recent. I remember Anthony Joshua having a ton of hype, and the fans were pretty spot on with the hype (despite some debate now but regardless Joshua has beaten Klitschko, Whyte, Parker, and Povetkin).

I think one thing hardcore fans got wrong was Tyson Fury. Fury had a certain level of hype but truly nothing big. He's a 6'9 boxer who beat Chisora early on in his career, was undefeated, and slowly compiling wins against the contenders of the sport. Beyond that, he's from the UK wherein hardcore fans on here hype beyond anything. Not many really saw much potential. When Fury-Haye was scheduled most people favored Haye. Then when that got cancelled Fury-Wlad was scheduled. Everyone picked Wlad, it seemed like another typical Wlad title defense. Beyond that, the fight got no real hype. A small former CW in David Haye had 10x the hype and struggled in HW but received the most hype prior to his fight with Wlad. Anyway, I know that the hardcore fans really knew Wlad would beat Haye but I think Tyson Fury as a whole was overlooked by hardcore fans until he beat Wlad and it just represents one of those cases where nobody saw his true potential even among those who love the sport and are inundated with studying boxing prospects.

Are there any other big examples of fighters being overlooked or fight predictions being completely off by the majority?

Most people thought that Donaire was going to blast out Rigondeaux.

Many people thought that Rigondeaux was gonna break Loma's jaw.

Well, we endured 5 years of hero worship of Manny Pacquiao until Mayweather had to set the re order straight..

Looks like Broner was a fraud all along

Probably the most dramatic I have seen was Calzaghe vs Lacey

Lots of folks thought Tito was going to crush BHOP. BHOP had other plans.

This, I think 90% of the Ring magazine experts picked ODLH and it wasn’t just a case of odlh winning, they were worried for pacquiao’s health. Very underrated win. Odlh was coming off a an SD versus Floyd 10 months before, beat Forbes at 150 on his way down to 147 for Floyd rematch which Pac was signed on as a replacement for.

A lot of ppl were saying Pac-Jmm III would be a wash for Manny. I feel like I was only one of a few ppp who predicted that Juan would once again give him trouble, and I was right. Not a great fight, but Juan did enough to win, imo.
