Hearns Mugabi Antuofermo Monroe Briscoe Minter They would be my top 6 not sure which one i'd drop out to make 5. Duran should not be in his top 5 wins, a win v a way past best natural lightweight is not a great win for an all time middleweight IMO no matter how good duran was
Hearns Mugabi Sibson Hamsho (I'll go with the second, although I understand why others might say the first) Minter
Thomas Hearns - Because Hearns was at his absolutely peak, and a peak Hearns was one of the best there ever was in the game (his destruction of Duran remains one of the most awe-inspiring blowouts in boxing history). Alan Minter - Was this ever brutal. Hagler would not be denied. This had to be the most satisfying fight for the Marvelous One. Mustapha Hamsho - The first fight. Showed the world what Hagler was all about: controlled demolition of super tough opponents. This type of performance was repeated several times, but Hamsho is the most memorable. Roberto Duran - Although people wonder how a fight with a former lightweight champion could have gone the distance, this was no ordinary lightweight. This was the man who outfought Carlos Palomino and Ray Leonard, demolished Pipino Cuevas and Davey Moore, and would go on after Hagler to outhustle a powerful middleweight in Iran Barkley to win the WBC middleweight title. I am well aware of the fact that Duran could underperform, but he didn't in this case. He rose to the occasion, and Hagler outboxed the master. John Mugabi - Hagler displayed his natural assets - his ability to take a shot and his will to win - even while it was clear that his skills were eroding. Mugabi, a ferocious puncher with considerable skill, fought a great fight, but it wasn't enough, and he was never the same. Hagler broke him.
Duran would do the top five in terms of legacy, but it wasn't necessarily his greatest showing, I wouldn't show that fight first to someone who never watched Hagler, Duran was leading after 12 (even if the judges scores where exaggerated) and the guy was just a fat lightweight.. Hagler respected Duran too much
