Don't know about the best performances, but there's quite a few good wins, in terms of defences as a champion he fought the best of his era and beat them. Monroe, Briscoe, Hearns, Minter, Antuofermo, Sibson, Hamsho, i don't normally include Mugabi, but the fight was a ******* and i suppose you can give him some leeway fighting a 154 man when he fought all those Mws. Some resume, also he drew with Sugar Ray Leonard, haha, just messing there.
defnitely not duran. this damaged his reputation which was much greater in the first half of the year, earning him the sport's top p4p. Hamsho Sibson Obel Lee Hearns are his top five wins, even more important than his win over Minter because he won more respect with those five wins
How many of Hagler's top 5 were natural middles? Not Duran ( light weight ) or Hearns ( Welter weight ) .
Mugabi was a MW at that time I believe. And wasn't he 28-0 (28) He really was 'The Beast' at that point!
the ring magazine at the time had the hagler V mugabi as a take your pick fight which i didn't understand because marvin was at his peak.it wasn't like the fight with SRL where the fight was stolen off him. when the title was vacant after monzon retired the ringpiece magazine said "hagler was a short slugger who's career wouldn't last long"
I think Fully Obel is an underrated scalp of Marv's. He battered him twice and Obelmajias proved himself Park's superior twice, had Olympic pedigree and hit very hard.
Sibson was probably his best performance, but his best wins were against Briscoe, Hearns, Monroe, Watts and Obelmejias.
