For me, a more interesting thought is if Hagler had come along some 5-10 years later (assuming he'd even be a MW then). We have plenty footage of the guys that were around ca 1985-1995.
i think a lot of guys beat haglers middleweights. i think mike mccallum would have dominated the era. i think burley would. i think many guys would.
charles if he had stayed at the weight, we might be calling him the best middleweight ever, and possibly the best pound for pound boxer ever, which you could, if you wanted, construct a case for already. physically perfect frame as can be at 160-175, and he had it all
i like hagler but not against charles. there are not many middleweights who could move up and fight guys like walcott, satterfield, bivins, and rocky marciano. hopkins moved around, but he couldnt do this. i dont think hagler could it.
