What were Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.’s flaws as a boxer, if he even had any?

Still a tremendous accomplishment. Do you think Chavez would have beaten Leonard more decisively?

    Duran haters gonna hate.
Doesn't need to be an excuse for Duran losing against Benitez or Hagler or Hearns. He was an ATG lightweight fighting other ATG's in their best divisions, at least 3 divisions above his own best division! He had no business beating any of them, even Leonard who was arguably the best of them all, Duran jumped 2 divisions and beat him.
How do any of those losses shame Duran? The guy was so good people are blind to the fact he was fighting so far above his best weight, and yes, past his best.
Duran haters are lucky he had the balls to move up and fight all these guys, if he'd stayed at lightweight they wouldn't have much to hate on.

He didn't answer cause the answer is obvious.

Leonard would have beaten ten shades of **** outta Chavez.

And prime Duran wouldn't need a last ditch miracle to beat Taylor. He would have pummeled Meldrick inside of 9.

Agreed. You need guys like Ike Williams and Benny Leonard to maybe beat Duran at lightweight.

Chavez's style is too 'plain' to win against Duran.

I haven't seen Pernall Whitaker post for a while, he used to be like a moth to a flame whenever Duran was mentioned. Hmmmmmm

he was a complete fighter. I think the fights with Randall pushed him to his limits and turned him into a stepping stone

Nope, Olivares was tough, but he didn't have the defense or the will power that Chavez had. He also didn't have the discipline that Chavez had which is why he had a very short championship reign. Although I do believe Chavez had a good chin I think many average fighters in the past have had good chins but just didn't have the skill set or discipline. Think Antonio margarito; great chin but no where near as good a fighter!
