Aside from the USUAL, "just keep doin' whatchoo doin', what the hell did Roger say that really helped Floyd? He seemed more concerned that Floyd was bleeding, "wipe his face off, damn". He might say what he thinks Cotto was trying to do, but I don't recall ANY great instructions, maybe I missed something. That guy in Floyd's stable, Vargas is a serious hype job and Lattimore looked like a guy that trained for a 3 rd. fight. I thought Jeff M. was such a good trainer.
I don't think he really needed any verbal nstructions. He realized Floyd wasn't going to listen to his advice, and simply reduced himself to the role of letting Floyd know what was going on in the ring from his perspective.
Floyd knows what he's doing and I dont think there was any need to change the game plan. We saw how well floyd adapts in the ring with the sweeping right hook rather tha the straight right which Cotto anticipated. Then later on Floyd saw Cotto was vulnerable to the left uppercut which he started throwing in there aswell. End of the day I think he's there for morale support more than anything.
So, basically, if it wasn't for that jive-ass pitty-pat **** on the pads, are guys sayin' Rog is pretty fkn' USELESS????? How's he gonna' compete with Freddie for trainer of the year with THAT bull****??????
Not at all. I'm sure him and floyd develop the game plan on a mutual consensus and both work hard through training camp to get him in top shape s he's prepared for various situations in fight night.
Floyd trusts Roger because he knows that he will be there. In particular, Uncle Roger helped him hone his offense and he has clashed with senior regarding strategy. One thing to note is Roger has always said that Floyd does not need to told to do anything as he is highly disciplined.
