What were Sugar Ray Leonard’s flaws as a boxer?

    yes someone said that to me before but it was officially for the light heavyweight title too, and Lalonde was a light heavy so might have rehydrated a bit before entering the ring, he was a lot bigger than Ray who actually looked more muscular v Hearns in `89.

    Ray had been active with Lalonde and he came in looking better against Hearns, but he had Hearns in front of him so that was tougher than Lalonde. And Ray weakened Donny to get him to 168. Tommy was all over the place at the time, which probably hurt his performances. Had he only fought at one place for longer he might have done even better.

    That's just one small part of the equation isn't it. Well unless guys like Benitez are top 10 ATG's.

    Absolutely. Leonard's beat weight was 147 and the 168 division was just formed when they fought.

    I know that Hill's reach was longer than Hagler's but that was after Hagler.

    Considering he quit in his prime rather than fight Hearns again and overall he had less than 40 fights. Durability.
    To be able to go fight after fight at the Championship level.
