Did the TV coverage go into the corners during the Froch fight? Would be interested what Dirrells corner were saying in the later rounds.
no they didn't go to the corners, which was pathetic, the US and German coverage puts ours to shame (they even have translators) and we have the idiotic commentators talking over it and no microphone in sight. At least ITV have the excuse of the Ads. for me the corner work is a vital part of the viewing/fight experience for £14.95 plus registration fee, I'd expect them to at least let me hear what the corners saying. I did just about catch the corner saying to Dirrell he needed a stoppage/big round though, which was very interesting.
that is pretty poor, definately one of the interesting aspects of a fight esp in the later rounds. yeah its interesting they said that, and given how brash he has been throughout he certainly didnt have the body language/reaction of someone who thought he won at the end!
I watched the Showtime broadcast - from what I can remember: - Dirrell in the middle rounds was frustrated with the dirty work of Froch - Mainly calm in the Froch corner, McCracken was angry at times with Froch for not doing what he should have been - Dirrell's corner told him he needed the stoppage in the last round - Froch's girlfriend was angry at Dirrell's running - Dirrell's mother said it was "highway robbery" at the end of the fight Thats all I can remember, even family members thoughts!
Bloody hell, wouldn't have thought that!? I think that just proves how close a fight this was when the corner thought it was that close, so people who had Dirrell 7 rounds up should watch the fight again, because it was a much closer fight.
Dirrell's corner told him he needed a knockout because of where they were, gotta think they still thought he was up.
Aye. Could have been kidology to keep him awake. But the way he got more aggressive late on suggests he and his corner didn't think they were up...
for some reason the British networks don't seem to think the corner work is important even sky don't let you hear it
On the occasions where sky do listen in half the time Adam Smith talks over it, apologising for the bad language
