be real, he has had an awful career, there were no real implications that his career would be as poor as it has been before he started it
I expected him to be the undisputed WBU/WBF/IBC/IBA champion. Calling out Herbie Hide after knocking out a guy with a barely detectable pulse was a brave move
I thought he'd be moved towards a fight with the weakest world champion, win that fight, make a couple of **** poor defences against guys with no skills but nice shiny records, be proclaimed the best thing since Joe Louis, set-up a fight with one of the Klits, get majorily owned in the fight itself, then retire. He's let me down big time
Definitely thought he had a chance at a belt, at least. Southpaw, big guy, could bang a bit. People forget what an absolute hero he was in the UK after his gold medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. There was a lot of goodwill towards him. That he today attracts so much derision both from the public and hardcore fans shows you just how badly he screwed up his career.
I wasnt really expecting much to be honest:bart especially when he started to declare himself the greatest thing since the wheel But I know what I expect of him now though..... My Money Back :deal as I know a good portion of my TV licence fee went into his pockets:fire But Hey he won the WBF title his life should be complete:yep
At that time.......i thought that he would go onto be a world champion.........a belt holder. The reason being is that i thought he had mental streght........i read parts of his bio......how he turned his life around, started boxing late and achieved the top hounours in the amateurs, then got a degree.....anyone who does that from being a street punk i thought must be mentally driven. Hindsight.........he didnt quite have the mental approach to real fighting.......amatuer boxing has gone backwards......and i think most of us Hardcore only understood this when we saw the 2008 olympics.....lot of good fighters got shafted. To much fencing. So his achievements whilst brilliant arent as good as we first thought, as i dont think the majority of us even thought amateur boxing was going backwards. Also i think he became rich to quick, and handle to much of his own business himself...when he should have delgated. Oh well
i thouhgt he'd get knocked out...a lot....and spend a career on the back foot defending his shaky beard.....so i was only half right....
