What were your predictions for Lewis-Tyson?

I remember the pre-fight hype and all. However, true boхing fans knew it would be a mismatch.

Reigning champion Lennox Lewis just KO'd Rahman in rematch and looked as great as ever that night.

As opposite, Mike Tyson looked awful against shot, extremely fat and slow Euro-level HW Brian Nielsen.
Not only Mike was overweight, but he was spent after the 1st round. Rounds 5 and 6 were uneventful since Tyson was totally exhausted and threw few punches (as well as Nielsen). That fight was Tyson's ONLY fight in 20 months prior to the so-called Lewis-Tyson "Megafight"!!!

It was obvious that once great Mike tyson was totally shot and had no chance against Lewis.

I honestly thought that Lennox would KO him inside 3 rounds. I thought there was no way Tyson gets past 3rd round, especially after seeing him overweight again (15-17 lbs heavier than prime or even 1995-97 version of Mike).

I was really shocked that Tyson lasted so long. He took tremendous beating and was hit by Lennox' best bombs round after round.

The final outcome of the "Megafight" was so predictable that I wonder if there was anybody who gave Tyson a chance?

For once,my prediction was dead on them money. I said to my friends that Tyson would be dangerous for one round, gas out and Lennox would stop him before the tenth.

I knew it was ludicrous mismatch, a year earlier Tyson had been a fat, shot-to-**** corpse, with no stamina against Super Brian Nielsen! :verysad

So it was obviously going to be a completely one-sided farcical fight, once beyond-shot Tyson gassed badly extremely early.

I said the heart, great toughness & iron chin of Tyson would allow him to take a horrendous brutal beating, as Lewis smashed kitchen sinks over his heard, round after round, until his sheer exhaustion more than anything felled him.

It was actually quite sad the way Tyson was built up as a contender again to satisfy the bank accounts of money-grubbing promoters and Lennox Lewis camp.
The boxing press and pundits, most of them, were a disgrace to attempt to add credibility to the 'man-on-the-street' perception of Tyson as still being a "killer" in the ring. Sadly, they even believed it themselves.

Tyson tried his damnedest to sabotage the fight and his inevitable beatdown. But too many people had a vested interest. Lewis even forced him to sign a contract that said they had to fight TWICE, and ended up suing Tyson for not wanting his second helping !
Jesus , talk about flogging the golden goose !:-(

Man, I thought Tyson would be able to land some shots on Lewis' chin. I had hope for a knockout but do admit I was in denial about Tyson's chances of winning. There was a raucous crowd at my house from the intros to that action filled first round, but after that 3rd round and onward you could hear a pin drop. :|

    Honestly?

I picked Mike Tyson on the basis of what Rahman was able to do him. He wasn't going to outbox him but I knew he won't go in underestimating him and he still had enough power to get the job done.

Seems silly now but the Lewis was an 8-5 favorite which in all honesty shows how much faith the public had in Tyson.

I suppose it was more wishful thinking, but had Lewis never lost to Rahman I suppose I would have strongly favored Lewis.

Lewis would have never prepared for Tyson like he did for Rahman regardless of the shell that Tyson was. His whole legacy would have been ruined had he lost to Tyson.
Seeing Tyson smoking weed in Hawaii was pretty indicative of how the fight was going to go down.

This is right around the time I transitioned from casual fan to close follower of the sport, but I recall that it was the most hyped heavyweight fight in years.

It was well-known that Tyson hadn't been the same since prison and Lewis was quite well regarded (even with the blemishes). I can't remember anyone favoring Tyson or being terribly surprised at the result (now, Tyson's subsequent losses...those raised eyebrows).

It's funny how Lennox tried to force Tyson to meet once again and even sued him for refusing. :rofl As if anybody wanted to see the same beating for the 2nd time.
Especially knowing the fact that Lewis refused to give the rematch for Klitschko just a half year later.

I had Lewis going in, but I was nervous during the ring walks and at the opening bell. I didn't know who would win for the 25 minutes directly preceding the fight.
