I didnt. I mean i liked Tyson but we all knew he was finished, but i was sick to the back teeth at the time with every tom, dick and harry in work and ****, telling me how much tyson was gonna kill him etc... so i really wanted lewis to win for to shut their mouths. I also fancied Lewis very strongly cos i reckoned he would be well up for it and wouldnt take many chances in the earlier rounds as im sure he felt Tyson would be dangerous

I predicted Lewis would win. The moment I saw Tyson's weigh-in at 240 lbs, I thought it was all over. Regardless of what round it would happen, Tyson weighed too heavy and was too slow. Lewis should have finished him before the 8th round but his fear of Tyson's power made him back up, jab and pot shot Tyson from the outside. Lewis only seemed to gain confidence after Tyson's early rushes in the early rounds were futile.

Not gonna lie. I thought Mike Tyson was gonna smash Lewis open. Lewis' chin always scared the hell out of me. After he survived bombs from Ray Mercer and David Tua, but got KTFO by Rahman with a single punch, I'd given up predicting Lewis fights.

Lewis KO8. The funny thing is I'm not lying. I was 12 years old at the time and hated Tyson for his recent exploits. Lewis was just the more appealing guy at the time and all of my friends were rooting for him as well.

One of the easier big fight predictions of the last 20 years. Any boxing fan worth anything knew Tyson was a totally spent bullet. Farce of a fight.

When Thomas Brooks picked Lewis days before the event, I knew his ex-boy 'Tyson' was up **** creek in 2002.... Still, I pulled for Tyson.... BUT! By rd. 4, I knew Tyson's ass was grass....

It would have been a good fight in 1996,if Mike had n't have ducked Lennox. I'd still have taken Lewis to win,but it would have been more competitive.

I don't know who would have won.
Tyson didn't duck Lewis. Don King may have. Lewis wasn't ever about to sign with Don King, and turned down big purse offers. Lewis won the approval of the WBC and got the "gift" of a revenge fight with Oliver McCall for the vacant title.

Lewis was far from impressive against Mercer. I'm sure even Don King would have fancied Mike's chances then, but King only wanted opponents who would give him the rights to promote future fights should they win.

If anyone was shafted in '96 I think it was Ray Mercer, who lost a questionable decision to Lewis, then beat a resurgent Tim Witherspoon, and still couldn't get a sniff at the title picture. I've always wondered what happened with Mercer post-'96.

Prime for prime, say Tyson 1988 v Lewis '97,would have been very interesting. A 50/50 fight.

Lewis by knockout, but I was nervous as hell. I watched it on a visit to the States, and think I had my eyes like a hawk on Tyson's left more than Lewis himself.

My American friends, as early as the 5th round, were saying it was over but I was still pessimistic. I didn't celebrate so much as feel massively relieved when it was over. The real joy came later on, mainly from seeing a fair number of journos that had ragged on Lewis throughout his career finally saying "Hey, this guy was actually good."

I wouldn't exactly call it easy. Tyson's power and the resurfacing questions of Lewis's chin after the Rahman fight did add a twist to the affair.

During the ring walk the feeling was electric, I don't think a heart attack would have stopped me from watching that fight. Although I had picked Tyson prior to, I was nervous about my pick. And for good reason.

In retrospect, Lewis barring a well placed hail mary from Tyson should have won that fight easily. And he did.
