What Were Your Thoughts On Bruno, Fighting Tyson, For The first time?

It was huge in the UK.

A lot of kids at my school lapsed into wishful thinking during the buildup, and I asked my dad if big Frank could win.

He said: "Son, Tyson's going to kill him!"

 

I remember seeing Bruno on David Letterman & thinking he was really charming. Dressed in a nice blue suit, he seemed so different than Tyson. He mentioned sparring with teenage Tyson and being impressed. Then he said something like “Mike hasn’t faced anyone with my power. He’s fought more sweet lollipop fighters.” That got a response from the audience. Watching with my mom, we couldn’t help but like him.

I didn’t give him much chance to get out of the 1st round. Bruno looked the part but he seemed slow & pretty stiff. That he fought fearlessly & rocked Tyson was practically a win to me. Tyson looked sloppy & wild but still worked the body more than he would years later. Possible future challengers were Razor Ruddock, Damiani (I think), Holyfield, & of course Foreman.

 

I thought that he would do better in the second encounter, because Tyson had spent a long time in prison, while Frank was coming off his career best win.

 

It was the firs time Tyson looked beatable, you could see he was starting to slip without Rooney in his corner, it also proved that due to Tyson`s size he would always have problems and look human v a big strong heavy that stood and fought back.
