Forget about heart/desire/injuries, I don't think Gonzales had the stamina to last another three rounds.

to be honest i was expecting to win the last 3 Gonzalez had nothing left after the 7th but it all ifs and buts now all we know is he quit in stool because rickys head broke his wrist and his heart

scorecards only matter if you cant get a stoppage

Sounds about right scoring wise, i fully expected Burns to win the remaining three rounds as he did 8 and 9

Gonzalez is one of the best LW's around for me, more impressive than DiMarco for example

87-84? That's generous. I gave Gonzalez all but the last two rounds

So almost the same as your, they scored it 6-3 and you scored it 7-2. Only a round difference.

Yes i had it 6-3 to Gonzalez too so same as judges 87-84 and it's almost certain they had it 6-1 after 7rds with Burns winning 8 and 9 more down to Gonzalez not throwing anything then Burns landing anything of note in those rds.

Was a pretty easy fight to score...of the first 7 rounds i only gave Burns round 4 even though it was a close round and could have gone to Gonzalez.

I'm still perplexed about Gonzalez quitting like he did. I'll give him the benefit of doubt and say he did injure his wrist which explains why he stopped throwing in rounds 8 and 9 and i'm sure he was tired and gassed too but come on this is a World title fight that he was easily winning and he hardly took a clean punch from Burns in rds 8 or 9 so wasn't getting beaten up or anything.

I actually don't think Ricky had enough in the tank himself to really do anything much in the last 3 rds so all Gonzalez had to do is dig down hard and get on his bike for 9 minutes and use his one good hand to try and nick a round and become a World champion.

Gonzalez had the skills to become a World Champion but unfortunately maybe not the heart.

I had it 89-83 Gonzalez after the 9th.

Only round I gave Ricky was the 9th and a tied 8th. That was being as fair as possible.

Give or take a couple of rounds, I suppose would be acceptable depending on self interpretation. But make no mistakes about it, Ricky WAS losing this fight by more than a few rounds and the judges were on the money as well tonight.

When Gonzalez was pounding him in that one round, the Ref looked at it a few times, watch it back. Ricky was right to put a poker face on and utter a few words to the ref because the ref let the fight continue. If Ricky hadn't of done that, its possible with some referees that they would have stepped in. I bet Billy and Eddie were shitting it in that round. Cant remember exactly which one it was, the 6th or the 7th? It was like watching Kell Brook and Carson Jones again for a moment.

Ricky got away with one tonight. Regardless of Gonzalez getting tired. They can say what they want, they didnt break Gonzalez's heart. Gonzalez pulled out because of injury to a leg and a wrist. If Ricky had beat the **** out of Gonzalez in the previous round, I'd say he quit. But he didnt beat the **** out of him all fight. Yes he was getting tired, and yes he may have caused most of that himself by gassing in that one round. But Ricky hardly did anything physical that hurt Gonzalez to the point where he pulled out. Most Ricky Burns fans will claim the workrate broke Gonzalez? But Ricky was busy all fight, and barely landing anything of note. Workrate of the last two rounds broke his heart?

    Nahhhh

If anything Gonzalez broke his own heart, those injuries feel that much worse when you sit and think about them. The leg was hurting, then the wrist, like someone else said on here, its natural human psychology. One thing adds on to another, it compounds and you admit defeat to yourself. Only very few fighters out of the many can battle through that nature. In a way, those fighters have an unnatural human psychology, to defy the pain and the odds. They forget about the pain and the injuries. Not ALL fighters are like that though.

Gonzalez had injured himself whilst hitting Ricky, and obviously is different mentally to fighters like Carl Froch for instance, who will fight on. Gonzalez lives to fight another day, he will however be followed by the shadow of this fight, and the wolfpack critics who will say he quit when he was on the edge of glory.

    Thats boxing.

    Ricky Burns fan then?

Even your lord and savior Jim Watt disputed giving him the 4th. Even he said it could of gone either way!!!

The only round RICKY CLEARLY WON, was the 9th.

Watch the fight again without wanking over your favorite fighter. :good

I gave Burns 1 of the first seven i think may have even given him 2(rounds 1 and 4) and gave him rounds 8 and 9 so i would not argue with 6-3 behind or 5-4 behind but that 1 round a differnce is massive in terms of the score
