I saw the press conference photos, and Arreola is looking to be a svelte 280 lbs...

Will he take training serious and get down to a good 250, or will he keep up his regimen of tacos, Menudo, Coronas and weed?

    What weight do you predict?

Going with the first category. I mean, there hasn't been a buffet destroyer like this since Rid**** Bowe. Buffet Bandit is getting long in the tooth too, he's only gonna get fatter.

I seriously can't stand how mean/disrespectful people on this forum are. Regardless of weight issues, Arreola has always been a nice, entertaining, and hard working fighter. He never makes excuses, works hard, and puts on fun shows.

Not every fighters has to be a perfect mix of peak physical health, master-level boxing prowess, and indomitable warrior spirit. You can have a mixture of any and all, at different levels, etc.

Chris is just Chris. You know what to expect, he always comes to work, and he's approachable/down to earth.

That is one of the things I've always loved about Chris. I'm on a first name basis with him and I don't even know him. He is just a hard worker, with a weakness for good food, cheap beer, and great weed.

I wish he wasn't aging, because I would have no problem with Chris fighting on for years to come.

    And lastly, Chris is 36 - 4 -1
Let's not act like he hasn't had a damn decent career. He was in a pretty confusing/complex era, and had some tough fights. But he was always in the picture. It's a shame he never won a title, but he was always a great guy, an entertaining fighter, and a game competitor.

Chumps need to stop being so damn judgmental. He's got weight problems. Get over it.

Im getting on to Wilder for picking a sub-par opponent whom almost ALWAYS comes in to a fight out of shape or with drugs in his system

You don't train for a title fight or any pro fight by eating like a pig and doing drugs.. get it?

And yes he did make excuses after getting smashed by Vitali, saying he ran all night

He looked bigger than I have ever seen him at the press conference and with this fight being at short notice that isn't surprising.

He weighted 262lbs against Harper which is his 2nd highest weight, I'd expect him to be around that kind of weight. I'd be impressed if he comes in below 250lbs.

He might be really heavy for this fight. But I think he knows this is most likely his last shot. I'd say, don't kill yourself to get down in weight. Just come in comfortable and work all 12 rounds. He needs to fight like it's his last fight, because it may well be the last fight that matters from here on out.

He got the call recently, so I don't think he was exactly ready, but I imagine that he would have had a good idea that the collapse of the Povetkin fight would have a resulted in a really high probability of him getting a call as a replacement. I mean, we were talking about it as a boxing community for months prior. Arreola has always kinda been in the background. So I think he should have been semi-prepared for that possibility. That being said, this is Chris. Chris does what Chris does, and I like him specifically because of that. If this is as far as he gets with that level of discipline and dedication to the sport, then that's on him. Regardless, entertaining fights, cool guy, fun boxing personality.

When I watch his interviews, I swear it's like watching the relative of a friend, or an old pal that's still doing his thing. Dude's just relatable and down to earth, and that's refreshing as hell. It makes it hard for me to give him a hard time about the weight. It's like, he's not an athlete in the strictest sense. He's a guy that just hangs at or around that high level. He could have been much better, because he is certainly not a dummy in the ring, despite his primitive looking style; He has decent ring IQ. (he's much sharper than some people give him credit for.) But his discipline was just never there.

I for one, would freaking love to see Arreola get the upset. But then again, I totally could see him catching Deontay with a shot that could create a crazy upset scenario. I know it's a long shot, but it would be cool.

What I would love to see is a post-title Arreola. How would he change is he held a major title? Or would he change at all?

There was a time when Chris was bad news. He was a handful for pretty much anyone. A healthy, motivated Chris Arreola was always game for an interesting, entertaining s****.

He might be well passed that now, but at 35, I could imagine, or at least would love to see, a crazy 2-3 year rebirth...

Meh, it's wishful thinking. Still though, I very rarely pick sides. I generally want the fighter who deserves it to win. The one working harder, the better fighter, etc. But in this fight, I just want to see Arreola make a damn good account of himself. And the reality is he can't. If he went in and just blew Deontay out. Just starched the kid out, he would not get any real credit. People would just say Deontay was exposed/whatever.

Whole thing is a bummer. The fact that he got another shot is surprising, what's worse is he barely has time to prepare, given the circumstances. But ultimately, it's Chris' fault. The possibility was always on the table, he should have been ready. Then again, if he was walking around at 230, looking sharp, and staying in good fighting shape, one could argue that the Wilder camp would have avoided him.

It's a mess. Chris should have been ready...
