Thought he'd be a good opponent for Callum Smith. But that should be his career over now. The sport has to get serious about doping.

 

Who knows? If all of this is true about his drug test he will probably just retire.

 

If the testers were ever to get ahead of the athletes then pretty much every elite/world class sportsman in the world is getting banned.

Can't believe some people are still shocked when an athlete fails a test, they don't catch everyone on peds, just the ones stupid enough to fail masking their use.

 

Does it not follow then that the authorities should come down hard on dopers - if PED use is so prevalent?

If Ward beats Kovalev, Bute will be Ward's first defense before the rematch. Seriously, that could happen.

 

He's only going to be suspended in DC and in WBC sanctioned fights.

Nothing to believe he can't still be a gatekeeper or a club fighter, or showcase type.

He's got a huge fanbase globally, has excellent skills and is a big name for a rising contender to add to their CV.

Why couldnt he fight someone like DeCarolis for the WBA interim title in Montreal on a Stevenson undercard, then be used as a punching bag by Beterbiev in a cashout type fight.

The drug he used was definitely a PED, but nothing to suggest it made him a tougher out for Jack.

Jack beat him 8-4, and was robbed.
DeGale beat him 7-5 and it boosted his resume.
Bute could stop DeCarolis in 4, gaining a portion of WBA SMW title, then go back to the UK and be stopped by Callum Smith.

Not saying Bute would definitely lose to Smith, or that he'd definitely beat DeCarolis, but his name value and the type of money he generates in high profile fights make him a commodity, and while many fighters will hang em up nearing the end, knowing they're no longer, or never were the best of their era, many others fight on, remaining relevant, earning good money, and shaping the futures of the next generation.

Toney ended up being Sam Peter's best wins
Holyfield is one of Byrd's best Ws.
RJJ continues to add to the resume's of many fighters, and still brings good money to the journeymen he typically beats.
And BHOP, though legally, has cemented his legacy as an ATG, and up until Kovalev, was widely considered to be the best LHW of this era still.

:rofl What a load of utter ****. Outside Montreal and Romania, he's nobody. If he had excellent skills, he wouldn't have folded like a lawnchair the moment he faced a decent fighter. He's a one trick pony that relies on PEDS now to propel his comeback.
