I will give the final pre-fight update at around 11 PM, the scheduled time of the fight. However, I will reveal my pick and it is:

    Cotto by UD.

While I am tempted to go with Margarito due to his longer reach, and taller height, and smothering, pressuring offense, he is only one dimensional whereas Cotto has more speed, the same power, and is more versatile. Plus, I think Cotto's shots to the body will break Margarito down eventually. If Cotto boxes more than brawls, he should easily outpoint Margarito. If they brawl and trade, all bets are off and it favors Margarito. However, I see a nice and correct blend of boxing smarts and skills as well as timely brawling attacks to keep Margarito at bay. Should be a great fight. While there can only be one winner in the ring, we the boxing fans and public are all winners.

Well....i think you missed somethig. Marg just had to be Marg to win. Fight his fight and make Cotto Fight instead of box. Had Cotto be able to box the entire fight and bang when only it was on his terms then Cotto would have gotten the UD. But you don't fight with Marg on the inside unless you are a James Toney or Willie Pep. Cotto is a very good boxer but he needs to be on the outside....Dashing in and out, throwing combos before Marg knew what hit him. Unfortunately when Marg was able to put hands on Cotto....>Cotto wanted to BANG and tried to do so on the inside. That was his undoing. Marg made Cotto wilt under the pressure he brought Saturday.

Look how many people went for Margarito by decision, hardly any! The strange this is, if Cotto had managed to survive the last 5 mins til the final bell, that's what the result would have been. I had a bet on Margo by KO and Cotto by decision (would have made money either outcome) so was getting quite worried!!

I respect Margo fans. You guys have a tough, relentless pressure fighter who will be tough to beat. However, Cotto showed us that Margo is beatable. The post I quote here on the end suggested that Cotto wanted to bang and it cost him. It remind of Arturo Gatti doing it against a bigger Carlos Baldomir for the WBC welterweight title 2 years ago which led to a KO victory for Baldomir in the middle rounds. However, it was a faster, slicker Floyd Mayweather in the next fight that showed you needed defense, speed, and lateral movement to beat a fighter that keeps coming after you as well as stamina. If Mayweather and Margarito ever fight, Floyd gets another welterweight belt. Margarito's stamina can keep him going for 15-20 rounds but Mayweather can also match or even surpass him as he claims that he never tires.

No way, Did you see Cotto's body language in the second round when he was getting touched to the body?

Honestly bro.....I like Marg and Cotto the same. I just felt Cotto didnt have the mental capacity to BOX marg for 12 rounds and he didn't. Marg is tough for anyone but hes beatable. Cotto just has too much pride to NOT chomp down and FIGHT. Even though against a guy like Marg....that would be the best game plan.

If you check the first 5 rounds....I was wondering if Cotto was going to be able to keep Marg at the end of his jab and off balance. I mean that was some beautiful work by Cotto with the combination punching and the angles he showed marg.

The one thing about Marg is he never stopped his pressure...he continued to walk his man down even though he ate some major leather from Cotto. I still think Cotto could win if he could BOX! but Cotto has a big heart and I think when he gets tagged, he'll want to retalitate instead of setting Marg up for traps....catching him coming in and countering off angles. I like Floyd in a match up with Marg if they ever faught.

I knew he was feeling them for sure.....but I have to give it to Cotto...he faught a very strategic fight up until round 6 when he started to get caught on the ropes and began to trade more with marg.

He fought a wonderful fight. I was shocked! He earned more respect from me in that lost then he did in all of his wins. He was dropping 3-4 punch bomb combo's on Margo. And his movement was very good.
