Wilder is seeing nightmares, because Luis Ortiz is his mandatory once again. What will be Bumsquads excuse this time to avoid the 53 year old King Kong Ortiz?

I am curious to see how this plays out, myself

If welder does go through the fight, I give him credit, finally, after 40 fights he would have finally faced a real challenge

but I just don’t see it happening

Maybe I am being naive but I think the fight will happen. I think Wilder believes he is good enough to beat anyone, you may say he's deluded but he believes it nonetheless.

This is a calculated risk by Haymon. Win or lose he still holds onto the belt and he can still risk Ortiz and the WBC belt vs Joshua if he wants to for a big payday, or he can just milk Ortiz like he did with Wilder and have Ortiz fight nobodies.

Well said. When you look a little deeper it's easy to see why this is happening. Ortiz also looks to have lost a step with age as well, this isn't the same guy who stopped Jennings 2 years ago. That said.. Ortiz still represents a step up in class and even at 39 is still a better fight than Stiverne II, Washington, Arreola, Szpilka, Duhaupas or Molina. Looking forward to the fight.

Ortiz is old as dirt and WBC and VADA are taking his PEDs away from him. You do the math.
This is a very winnable fight for Wilder.

He’s fighting an aging Ortiz first, then will wait maybe one more year to fight Povetkin at 39 hoping he’s aged some more too. Wilder is trash and I hope Ortiz clips him.

Injury was a long time since. Then Ortiz will be pushing fifty when the reschedule fight can take place. If he won't battle Breazeale first.

And then Ortiz will have to get through both pre and post fight drug tests.

I think Wilder will be to athletic for the aging Ortiz.

I think Wilder would have fought both Povetkin and Ortiz had the tests not failed.

He probably thought making that stand would really boost his popularity but it seems it backfired as more people have the opinion that PEDS are rife and it isn't an excuse as opposed to wanting a clean sport.

For me, failing a drug test should go down as a tko loss.

    Yes pretty much this.
Steve Bunce in his radio show for the BBC was talking about what makes Wilder so dangerous for anyone,he reckons Wilder practises those wild looking punches that come from the ground upwards and hit his opponents behind the ear,all well n good I say but I just can't see any elite boxer getting hit by those wild punches as you can see em a mile off.
So hard to rate Wilder on account of him facing absoloutly nobody of note, most of his fights have been against those ranked outside the top 100 and half those were unranked and then those he's fought with a name you might recognise he struggled against until he got the KO.
I don't think he's gonna carry on with the 50/50 thing it's purely the modern way to hype up fights now it would seem, the fight will happen and will most likely be around 65/35 which is way more than he's worth imo.

Will end up getting to fightday and Wilder comes down with the "FLU" and has to cancel the event.

wilder hads the excuse not to fight ortiz

that he went into the ring to self promote ortiz v wilder means plaudits should be given to wilder

people saying ortiz is 50 /to old too slow / etc etc are playing down what ortiz is.

he is the fighter hearn would not fancy for joshua / nor me .
team parker would not a voluntary fight
i am pretty sure team wilder would want him to steer way clear off ortiz and ilder has forced them into it.
IMO this is wilder himself that is wanting to prove himself /as rightly so he has been stung by critisim of his resume.

yes ortiz looked a bit slow last time out / but he has slow feet / and is a pure counterpuncher when he can shorten up his punches / when he has to instigate offense he is only average

wilder will need to box to a gameplan and with discipline and can use his speed and height to win

boxes like he has been doing with stupid telegraphed bpmbs from way back and ortiz will beat him.
