What will Cotto say if Margarito beats him again...

...with no loaded gloves, ESPECIALLY given that Margarito is a lot more worn down/ in poor physical condition (damaged eye) than Cotto is, and ESPECIALLY since Margarito relies on toughness to win fights in the first place?

Cotto should by rights be considered favourite, but what if Margarito shows again why he has the greatest heart in boxing and beats him? What will Cotto say then?

I think he will retire if that happens.

Cotto will say that Tony had plaster of Paris in his goatee, thus hurting Miguel's hand everytime he decked him on the chin.

    I would hope so.

I think there should be 0 excuses in this fight.

But if Cotto wins, people will already have plenty of ways to hate. Like the op already stated, people are gonna say, "well Margo was more shopworn", or **** like "Margo had to break camp for 2 days" (which will apparently throw ALL the training Margo has done down the drain for arguments sake).

I can see the hate threads now taking ALL of the credit away from Cotto if he wins...

Whatever the case may be, if Cotto does lose, I hope he has no excuses and accepts that Margo is just better (I finally will), and seriously contemplates retirement.

Do you not think Margarito is more shop-worn than Cotto?

(I am not saying this would be a warranted EXCUSE, although, it will, undoubtedly have an effect, especially given his style of fighting).

    What can he say really??

MC has put himself on the line w/This fight Rep & all.
Everything we once liked about Cotto has been expossed during just this first episode & the faceoff.

I think what he could say (or at least hint at it, because it would be asking too much to have him say it) is something like:

"Margarito is a great warrior with a great heart, and despite the controversies surrounding the first fight, he proved he is a better fighter than I am."

    Why exposed?

Exposed as someone unwilling to go out on their shield to win - i.e. as someone who doesn't dare to be great.

I can't argue that Margo has been through more hell than Cotto. At this point I would be a fool to say that Margo is the fresher fighter of the two.

But I see people being too quick to forget that Cotto has been through his fair share of wars too. One of which included the same kind of beating Margo got from Pac, minus the actual breaking of Cotto's orbital.

I would hope Cotto would say something like that, if he does lose the rematch.

I would also hope Margo (and a lot of fans) would take back the hate for Cotto not being willing to die in the ring like Margo (even though stepping in the ring alone is a risk to life).
