I, for one, appreciate Ward's talent. I think the way that he handled himself in the Super Six tournament showed him to be one of the most versatile fighters I've seen in the last decade. He can box from the outside. He can s**** on the inside. He can hit and not get hit. He can be the aggressor. He has all of the tools necessary to adjust in-fight to whatever style he is facing, and that's what makes him such a difficult adversary. He's not a top pound-for-pound fighter for nothing. That being said, if Kovalev beats him, more power to Kovalev. I'm not on either fighter's payroll or fan club - I'm just a guy that appreciates great fights between great competitors and Ward/Kovalev pits two extraordinary talents against each other for what should be (hopefully) an exciting, meaningful fight (something Ward hasn't really had since the Super Six). If Kovalev happens to beat Ward, he should get full credit for that win in that he was able to beat a guy that no one else has been able to solve up until this point. It's going to take a special fighter to beat Ward, and Kovalev might just be that fighter. I'm not expecting it, but I wouldn't be totally shocked, either. That's what makes a good fight (having two opponents that are so well-matched that the outcome is far from certain).
This. If Kovalev beats him, that says more about Kovalev being an extraordinary fighter than it does about Ward being an overrated one.
Kovalev could knock Wards head off eat it, throw it up then stick up your azzhole and still wouldn't be a better boxer than Ward. Let's see that cheater fugg move up to HWT and challenge himself like SOG has by moving up.
I still see this as a 50/50 fight. If Ward loses it will all come down to the manner of the defeat. If he gets dominated or blown out early then his detractors will start claiming that his CV was never that great to start with. You can almost read it already - "Severely drained, never that good Dawson" "Overrated caveman Carl Froch who s****ed by Groves, got a gift against Dirrell and beat a hugely overhyped Bute" "Protected middleweight Abraham" "Injured and consistently fouled Kessler"
Don't you mean CW? And how did Ward challenge himself, he didn't eat at Burger King for a month? Cause he has a hard time doing LHW too, that's not challenging himself, that's growing old dumbass
Nope, I ment HW sh*thead and make sure he wears that "shirt" when he steps in the ring with AJ or Wilder.
Some people already seem to be saying he has no power, has a shaky chin, has never beat a skilful boxer, lacks courage, has no chance etc etc. Realistically it would be a great win for Kovalev imo even though Ward is naturally a smaller man.
When did Ward moved 2 divisions up to "challenge himself" moron? He "challenge himself" by challenging small guys, GGG,Sergio Martinez, Mayweather. He even fights tune-ups with small guys, Brands was 172 at the weight in, get lost!
