There are not enough greats boxing now for him to become top p4p ever. I guess he could just go up in weight and try to win the middleweight title. If he beat Pavlik it would be a good accomplishment.
If Pac went up and asked to fight Hopkins at a catchweight of 174, he would be a coward. Topp 100 if lucky
I think we have a fair few genuine boxing fans thinking this guy could be G.O.A.T. whisper it tho........
...So what would? Rather than just saying what WOULDN'T, make a positive claim about what WOULD. Edit: Furthermore, beating the guys I listed and then retiring makes him Top 10 EASY. Who else would he have to beat in your estimation to go deeper into the list?
While I really respect the moving up in weight and fighting top notch competition...I just don't know if I feel he is top 20 yet, let alone number 1 (My god, thats asking for a helluva lot). Sometimes I just wish these guys would stay where they are and reign. Joe Louis reigned, Sugar Ray Robinson reigned, Carlos Monzon reigned, Pacman has destroyed his opponents but I don't know if he has just owned a division yet. He hasn't been that guy that has been able to lay claim to something for years on end. Boxing has changed of course, so who knows, maybe more time and perspective will help him move up in my top list. If he stays at Welterweight for a few years, continuing to beat the best competition there, then he will be in the convo for top 10 for me.
I really do hope he stays at WW for a while. I mean he said after the Cotto fight he didn't plan on going up any more and it seems like a good idea moving up to super WW and hes fighting guys 6'+ he just isn't tall enough. So moving up really isn't an option so the only question becomes does he keep boxing or retire. Well looking at his last fights he's only getting better and better so I figure at least another 3-5 years maybe even more.
