You know there's a problem when a female UFC fighter is more popular than the USA H.W division

Although Floyd Mayweather is more popular than any UFC fighter, that's largely because he's the BEST.

Will H.W boxing be popular in the USA if Wilder hypothetically beat Klitschko? (assuming Klitschko beats Fury).

I think that Wilder hasn't become as popular because people don't think he's a true champion, and that's because Klitschko is still dominant.

Wilder would have to garther 10 big knockout wins, do the talkshow circuit. Win all belts. Become a celebrity. And he'd need credible US based opponents.

Right now the best opponents for Wilder are all non-Americans. Not good for US marketing.

What will make HW boxing popular in the USA again?

    1. Stop all of the talent moving to American Football.
    2. Pay up and coming fighters a decent purse.
    3. Have it regular channels. Not PPV.
    4. Stop eating like you are on a carribean cruise. 90% of US HW's are almost obese.

You need another Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali type character. Someone who either has that intimidating look or someone who can talk his ass off. Look at the current crop, Wilder and Jennings are good boxers, but they don't look scary or act entertaining.

However, it will never be viewed as big as before due to MMA. Boxers are no longer feared as fighters, look at Ronda Rousey, who openly says she can beat Mayweather, ...and she's right.

Good fighters in good fights. Ask yourself these questions. How many good heavyweights are there right now? And how many good heavyweight fights have there been in the last ten years?

In america it will never be big again. Cruiser weight was a popular division when Holyfield was coming up, now cruiser weight is one of the best divisions in boxing and America doesn't care about it at all as there is no good Americans competing in it

Same at heavyweight. Heavyweights were popular in America when 90% of the top heavyweights were american, that's never going to happen again ,in fact it's only going to get worse for the American heavyweighs

Wilder looks about as scary as he can.

The casuals dont know what we know about his abysmal glass jaw, which is why I dont mind him fighting the likes of Szpilka and Oquedno and Chagaev etc, while blatantly ducking Potvetkin.

If Wilder garners a few more KO wins in defense of his title, he'll become a sensation on Sportscenter.

He just needs to mow over the chinny guys like Szpilka early and pay step aside $$$ to Potvetkin for a while.

Come on Al.....spare the shattered glass.....buy of the WBC, and let Deontay garner some steam.:think

We need to revamp our amateur program.

Promoters need to pay boxers decent wages so that parents will have incentive to encourage their kids to get in the sports.

Take a look at past American Heavyweight greats, and you will notice that most began boxing in their pre and early teens. We need to start targeting kids at a very young age.

Ignore these and you will continue to have football and basketball rejects trying to imitate boxers at the at age of 22.

Not with frauds like Wilder holding the belt.... Jennings, and Thompson are our best heavyweights by far, both would knock Wilder out and claim his paper title if given the chance.
