Will be that Cotto is a smarter fighter than Margarito. Margarito is not a very smart fighter yes he is tough and determined but he is not too smart in the ring and he fights somewhat squared up and a lil flatfooted and he will not be able to just throw as many wide looping punches as he normally does against Cotto who is at his best right now. Sure Margarito is tough and will be able to take Cottos shots but it doesnt mean they dont hurt and they dont make an impact just because he shows he can take them, especially if Cotto can counter Margarito it will make Margarito believe he is being outsmarted :good .A couple of years ago I would pick Margarito but now I pick Cotto. Margarito has not improved since years back he is still the same fighter just about whereas Cotto has kept learning and getting better and improved many facets of his in ring game..:deal ... That being said I still expect an exciting fight from Margarito.. Both men should be tested in the fight but I think Cotto is too good right now and believes he is at his best and every adversity he has seen in the ring (Torres, Corley, Mosley, Judah) will benefit him for the tough fight.:bbb

I think the major factor in this fight will be whether or not Cotto can take Margarito's shots. If he can, I expect him to outbox Antonio on his way to a close but clear decision. In contrast, if Cotto can not take Margarito's right hands, he will be Tko'd late. Margarito has such a huge punch output that he will land fairly often over the course of 12 rounds, and Cotto is going to have to prepare to take them. If his punch resistance is better than what people think, he should outland Margo.

I use to be split in this fight, was thinking Margo would simply use his workrate, chin and power to run Cotto over and Cotto may out box him. Now im just thinking, Cotto will outbox him. He will box from the outside, send enough power and combination to get Margo's respect and win each round all through 12. Wide UD.

If what you say is true, he will have to keep up with a severely fast pace if he is to try and keep Margarito off of him.

Miguel Cotto hasn't got stamina issues as far as I'm aware, but we all know that Margarito very rarely feels the pace. He got stronger down the stress against Williams.

If Cotto does hope to keep Margarito off of him for 12 rounds, he will have to be active. I think stamina would come into play in the last 3-4 rounds, and then the tide of the fight could change dramatically.

If Cotto can get to the body early without catching any heat from Margarito. If he is able to get his shots off and get out of the TORNADOE..which is more like a strong wind and gusts and **** like.

BAM.. WRONG! Margarito was gased out and had nothing left and Williams kicked his ass in the 12th round. Margarito has excellent stamina but you make him use his legs instead of just planting his feet in quicksand then he will tire down the stretch. BUT Cotto cant score from far away so Margarito can apply steady pressure without worrying about getting punched in the face constantl LIke agains Williams. But Margarito never been in with a body puncher like Cotto who has sick accuracy just a level below floyds. The guy does not miss.

Does any analysis really need to be done? Cotto is at least 3 levels above Margarito and he has the advantage in styles. For Margarito to win, some kind of a miracle must happen.

I think if Cotto can use a mixture of speed, movement while boxing and power when he unleashes his body shots, Margarito can be winded and not only respect Cotto but may get a bit discouraged. I don't mean he will get discouraged but Cotto has displayed a lot of heart in the midst of adversity (low blows against Judah are debatable). But I think because he is the champ, is younger, and has skills and hunger, Cotto takes this fight.

    How am I wrong?

If we both review the fight together, we'd be in agreement that the first 5-6 rounds belonged to Williams.

It wasn't until late in the fight that Margarito was rallying back. He may have been shot by the 12th round but he still does better in the later rounds.

Cotto has never been in with a big welterweight like Margarito, who will be piling on the pressure 12 rounds.

Arguably, Cotto has not fought as big of a hitter as Margarito at 147.

He was wobbled by every punch that landed against Judah, and Mosley had better power at lightweight.

The jab and some good bodywork will slow Margarito down enough to take the decision.

And no doubt that's the only credit Margarito will get from his haters if he comes out the victor!

I hope Miguel Cotto doesn't think the fight will be as straightforward as all his fans believe it to be.

Even after fighting Judah and Mosley, Margarito is his toughest test I believe.

You have to make Cotto the favourite, but it isn't overwhelming.

Judah hits twice as hard as Margarito and his punches are ten times more difficult to see coming. Margarito has a chance of stunning Cotto, but not taking him out.. he doesn't even hit any harder than Quintana.. maybe a tiny bit harder than a past-it 147 Mosley, but not significantly more.

I would give him a ton of credit if he just lasts the distance.
