The qualites that Margarito has don't always win fights, but this is the fight in the history of boxing where the basic qualities of toughness, a good chin, and relentlessness could and/or will make the difference. Alot of people are going to feel extremely foolish when they're watching this fight as it gets underway.

As I stated before, I think that what Cotto has been through and the adveristy he has been through (Mosley, Judah, his great fight with Torres) and hes been in enough big fights already im sure he will have enough confidance and belief in himself to not surrender... IMO

Amazing how not many are giving Margarito a chance. And sayin if he wins its like a act of god or something. Priceless. While any CERTAIN conclusion is completely and entirely bull****, I think it will come down to the intangibles. I have all my v cash on Margo to win , and im thinking TKO/KO in 8, But I am by NO MEANS CERTAIN. Cotto Is a bad mother****er in his own right. If he wins he gets alot of credit. To dismiss Margarito as some bum and having no chance just cheapens a Cotto win , if he indeed pulls it out. **** like this from Huki ( which surprised me since he usually knows his **** ):
Does any analysis really need to be done? Cotto is at least 3 levels above Margarito and he has the advantage in styles. For Margarito to win, some kind of a miracle must happen.

I would give him a ton of credit if he just lasts the distance.

Either way this will be a sweet fight.

Those of you here that fee with such absolute certainty that Cotto`s gonna just steamroll Margo please line up in nice orderly fashion and take part in the 1 month avatar bet. It`s all in good fun....

Love for all the Margo bashers in here to participate. All in good fun.
Heh last time I did one of these bets I backed Margo against Williams and had to sport a real gay one for I think it was 3 months. Margo owes me one and I won`t be denied this time heh.

The Williams fight was a tactical error.

Instead of matching Williams punch for punch Margarito was throwing one bomb at a time trying to get the knockout. It was an awful performance. It also explains why Margarito was gassed in the 12th.

I mean lets face it, Williams is not going to get knocked out by any welterweight. It just won't happen. He'd probably be able to take a few right hands from Pavlik as well before being knocked out. In hindsight it was stupid to try and knock him out. He spent too much time looking for clean shots while Williams was racking up rounds.

If we're bringing up awful performances, I think Cotto's against Judah qualified.

By the time the two fought, Judah hadn't won a fight in awhile yet he was hurting Cotto with every shot landing.

Cotto arguably cheated in order to regain his senses.

If it wasn't for Judah's awful stamina and mental issues, Cotto may not have won that fight.

Well I think Judah really came at his best. I think most guys do against Cotto because they see it as a winnable fight. I don't disagree either. He is vunerable. The low blows I do consider bought him some time as well. And I feel that is somewhat of a tradition coming from him. Even Cotto himself says he'll do anything he needs to do to win. My only hope is that if he attacks Margarito low, Margarito returns low.

Judah will always be a first quarter guy. A 3 round fighter. Cotto weathered the first 3 rounds and that was pretty much that. Cotto doesn't hit particularly hard as I think if he did Judah would not have been around so late in the fight. But every punch is a clean punch and it causes alot of swelling because of that.

Margarito may come out of his looking puffy as hell but I still suspect he will win. He's not going to play the game with Cotto. He won't be trying to make Cotto miss and make him pay. He's gonna look to get off first and get off last, and whatever Cotto does in between will be insignificant. He's gonna make Cotto work at a pace he is not comfortable with. And I believe he can do that for as many rounds as it takes until Cotto drops, sometime around the 10th.

Physical condition and state of pyschological preparedness on fight night will make the difference.

Margarito is a tough strong kid who is game but he is also a limited Mexican strong man. Cotto is a skilled boxer puncher and the key difference in this fight is Cotto's greater skills and abilities. Margarito only has 1 tactic which actually might not work against Miguel Cotto. He will be shocked when Cotto hurts him.

i agree.... to me this fight is no differnent then Pac vs. Diaz, hell even... Cotto Vs. Gomez.....margarito's got a little power? who cares.....cotto's fought plenty of guys with power, he's not bringing anything cotto cant handle IMO..

edit.....if you reaaaly wanna test Cotto put him in the ring with Williams or Berto, i beleive they have more to offer then Margarito
