The Europeans won't be saying anything, because no way is Joe going to be KTFO by Pavlik.

He is a damn good fighter, but beating some WBU chump who isn't even top 10 P4P in his own country doesn't give him right to favouritism against a guy who is 45-0, stylistically a nightmare for him and naturally a bigger man.

    Pavlik only beat Lockett.

    Common posters get real.

Im not saying Pavlik doesnt have a chance against Calzaghe at all. But common ever since Pavlik started winning you have him beating Hopkins,Wright,Calzaghe a Prime Hagler.

I mean lets get real for a minute here. The middleweight division isnt exactly the middleweight division of old.
    I mean names like
    Winky Wright (old)
    Jermain Taylor
    Sebastain Sylvester
    Arthur Abraham
    Felix Sturm
    John Duddy

    Now these are not exactly
    The early 90's
    Roy Jones
    James Toney
    Bernard Hopkins
    Mike McCallum
    Michael Nunn
    Nigel Benn
    Chris Eubank
    Iran Barkley

Even the 80's was full of really good middleweights.

I will say Pavlik is good but dont think he is going to come in a knock out someone like Calzaghe with ease.
    Pavlik has beat Miranda
    Taylor twice
    and Lockett

    Calzaghe has beat
    Kessler
    Lacy
    Hopkins
    Eubank
    Veit

I like Pavlik and I can understand why American fans are enthusiastic about him, but be realistic, Pavlik is

    1. tall
    2. strong

At the same time he is slow, his defence is not the best, I still think he is a bit overrated. If Taylor could make it a close fight the second time (and almost stopped him in the first), Calzaghe will have an easy night.

What will the American fans say when their overhyped (but still very strong) fighter is knocked out?

Sad, but Pavlik gonna lose against Joe.

 You did? Are you schizophrenic?

Because I saw nobody bar Max "I started watching boxing 2 years ago and support every Frank Warren fighter blindly" Moleneaux saying Pavlik had any chance.

Please pull up some of these posts saying Lockett had a good chance, apparently it was "all" you were hearing.:huh Funny because on all the polls and all the comments from Brits I have seen they said Lockett was domestic level and would get battered.

    I certainly did Strike.

Lockett isn't even top 10 P4P in his own country - look at the BBC rankings, often biased toward Sports Network. They don't have him in there either.

Gary Lockett H2H beats anyone in the past 70 years in the MW division up to LHW. He is not an ATG -- but you can not judge him by his opposition guys. The bible said judge not lest ye be judged. While Lockett is not a ATG -- H2H he would probably take out Roy Jones in a heart beat. As I see it, this is a good win on Pavliks record -- remember in a H2H since.

A fighter's trainer actually had the temerity to suggest his guy would win? Astounding.

I much prefer the "my fighter's going to be pulverised on the night" confidence boost employed by so many of the top trainers.

Anyone who takes a word seriously from Enzo Calzaghe wants lopping.

He makes Leonard Ellerbe sound like an intelligent, distinguished member of the community.

we have to settle for whatever we can get with this slippery cherry picker and since he wont fight Dawson who would surely kick his ass
we have to settle on a middleweight. It doesnt matter as long as Slappy fights someone in their prime.

Calzaghe is old and past his prime. The Americans are so desperate to beat him that they keep going on about how JC wont fight young prime fighters like Dawson and Pavlik. He already beat the young American star in Lacy and now that JC is over the hill he should be allowed to end his career with an exhibition fight with RJJ.

Its testament to how good JC is that now he is way past his prime and getting old he probably could still take Pavlik to school and win by UD. Calzaghe will take Pavlik to school. Even Pavlik landing his power shot will not get him a lucky victory given that JC has survived wars with big punchers like Eubanks, Kessler, Lacy, Reid and Mitchell!
