What will Wilder's game plan be?

Deontay Wilder has great power in his right hand but he will be up against a unique challenge. Tyson Fury is both enormous and a good mover. Wilder won't have his usual size advantage.

However unorthodox Wilder may be in the ring he has smart advisors in Jay Deas and (I think) Mark Breland and they will no doubt be working on a plan to counter Furys strengths and to ensure the fight goes Wilders way.

So what is it? How would you approach this fight if you were Wilder's trainer?

Jump on him early like Lewis did with Golota, go to the body early and often and don’t get caught up trying to outbox him. Make Wilder watch the 12th round of the Wlad fight, go at him and don’t fall for all of the feints…Would put a lot of emphasis on the left hook...basically, do what you do, not what Fury dictates…

This is classic speed and power vs size and skill, should be a heck of a fight.

Fury takes shots against aggressive fighters. The idea that he doesn’t is a bit of a myth. He was taking a couple in his last fight.

With that in mind, I would say be aggressive. Fury’s unlikely to give you the perfect opening, so I’d test the water early with a couple of flurries. I’m confident that one would catch him. See how he reacts.

Patience is the key. The opening will come and then Wilder will strike. Fury keeps his left hand low and relies too much on movement/reflexes. He won't be able to get out of the way of Wilder's exocet right hand, particularly at this point in his career. When it comes, it will be brutal and devastating. Fury won't know what hit him.

he shouldn't give Fury the time and space to dictate the fight. he should try and force the fight and put pressure on him, not giving him too much time to think.

This is a joke question, right? The same game plan he has every single fight.

Agree with exumspate. Wilder should push the pace and try land some big power early, even if its on the body. He should basically ignore Fury's herky jerky feints and let rip. Fury's got nothing for him. Fury can't bust a grape, crack an egg or put a hole through toilet paper at this point.

If Wilder falls for Fury's smoke and mirrors game and stands off trying to box he very much risks losing a fight that he ought to win by KO and easily so.

Many of Wilder’s opponents have struggled to get on the inside, so patience has been fine. However, Fury’s not going to have that problem. Plus, Fury is unlikely to go hunting for the KO. What does this mean? Well, Wilder will have to hunt, or Fury will simply box him from the outside, all night. I feel that Wilder will need to be the aggressor, if he’s to win.

I always thought that Wilder had a pretty low work rate for a guy that has 39KOs. In most of his fights, he always seems to be waiting for that opening to land his big right hand. Like the Gerald Washington fight for example, for like 4 straight rounds, he just stood there clueless like a deer in headlights as Washington was outboxing him easy. It was like Wilder had no idea what Washington was doing.

Ditto for all of his previous fights. The Bronze Bomber literally has no boxing brain and his success hinges on his big right hand. You take that away, what does he have?

Doing that to Fury will cost him the fight. Imo

Throw his right hand with literally everything he has behind it, and then when it lands start windmilling like a demented spastic and clubbing Fury relentlessly round the back of his head until he goes down. Or if the initial right hand drops and he manages to get back up, immediately switch into demented spastic windmilling clubbing him round the back of his head relentlessly mode.
