What will you think of Cotto if he knocks out Pac?

Outside of the money it seems Pac has much more to gain from defeating Cotto than Cotto does for defeating Pac. He gets a belt, if it is put up by Cotto. He gets to make history. He gets to say even if he is defeated that he had the balls to face Cotto. But what does Cotto get? At least Hopkins when he fought Hoya was able to pick up Sturms belt and become a unified champ.

I'm just remembering Hoya's face during that HBO 24/7 where he says he's in a lose/lose situation. If he wins he beat a smaller fighter and everyone will hate him, if he loses than he lost to smaller fighter and he'd be a joke.

So is Cotto now in the same position or do we now recognize Pac as a true threat to an opponent no matter how big or good?

I dont think he is in the same situation as DLH because everyone expected DLH to beat Pacquiao. Right now everyone is saying that not only will Pacquiao beat Cotto but he will stop him. Yet if Cotto wins expect people to say that he was simply to big for Pac and that Pacquiao should have never been in with welterweights.

I'd feel happy for him. Margarito's possibly ruined him. A win here would be validation that thats not the case

DLH fought an unproven (at the weight) Pac. Everyone thought that Oscar was picking on a little guy. Pac's wins over Oscar and then Hatton make him legit. In fact, most people experts are picking Pac to knock out Cotto. If Cotto wins he'll get props for beating a good fighter and being the better man.

Even at 145, beating Pacquiao right now is the biggest win in boxing. He's in the heart of his prime and dominating all his opponents except for Marquez, who is the 2nd best fighter in the sport. Its true that if Cotto beats Pacquiao then the size factor will take a little bit of shine off that win, but regardless it'll still be the best win of his career.

Good but not great. I think that he needs that one extra special win to put him over the top. If he could beat Floyd or Williams it would do it.

I've watched cotto's entire career, and i've always liked his fearlessness, as well as his technical ability, but if he were to KO Pacquiao, that would skyrocket him very close to the top of that huge list of puertorican greats in my opinion.

I can only see people with a serious issue trying to take anything away from a Cotto win.

It'd seal the deal on any debate that might be left as to Miguel's HOF status. Great win, if he can pull it off.

If Cotto beats Pac Im not going to think to much of it, it will be on par with Hopkins beating up Tito. Anyone thats following the sports knows that Cotto is the bigger man and it should be no surprise if cotto KOs Pac.

Pit, Hopkins vs Tito is the win that defined Hopkins' entire career more than any other win. The phrase "not going to think to much of it" doesn't really fit in that sentence.

Well, Hopkins ko'ing both Tito and Oscar are what defined his career. At the end of the day most boxing fans give more credit to the small guys stepping up even if they get smashed than to the bigger guy who smashed them. Then again, I guess Hopkins fans see those fights differently.

Hopkins was like 1/4 to beat Oscar. That fight defined his bank account, not his career.
