What Wlad didn't do, or tried repeatedly but couldn't do?

Ive read it posted that the outcome wasn't so much what Tyson -did-, but rather what Wlad -didn't do- due to his age

But then again what Wlad -didn't do- could be misinterpreted for what he tried but -couldn't do- due to Furys size, reach, and movement.

Basic skills yes, but apparently over 12 rounds Wlad would have seen it slipping away and would have gotten through more if Fury was as "vulnerable/there to be taken out" as some seem to think

I think that maybe Furys assets were more effective at thwarting Wlads offense than some give him credit for

I think Wlad was struggling to open up on Fury much sooner than the 12th, but Fury, given his size/reach combined with his "effective but basic" skills kept Wlads repeated offensive attacks from being landed, or prevented them from being even thrown in most futile attempts

    Thoughts?

Wlad is a jab and grab fighter. Once he failed to establish the jab due to Fury's effective footwork and movement, he was finito. Safety first mentality is Wlads gift/curse. Gift in that it let him dominate a division of smaller fighters for a decade. Curse in that he failed to demonstrate any improvisational ability once the jab was taken away from him.

Good point. Even against s taller (slightly taller) fighter, Wlad was still employing his same old technique of throw jab, right hand, then clinch

But against Fury's reach and movement, Wlad's "tried and true" game plan was not getting through. Yet he stayed with it to the end. As you said. It's as if he didn't know what else to try or didn't have anything else to try , so he stuck with what he knew(ineffective as it was)

Strange fight and strange outcome, to say the least

Basically everyone had good points here. It looked bad, but because it was a technical fight. Fury took away Wlad's offensive ability, Wlad didn't just fail to execute. Although I do think that Wlad's age probably got in the way with pulling the trigger a bit.

We could see in the Jennings fight Wlad had trouble pulling the trigger now add to the mix he was fighting a tall, long, fast fighter recipe for an upset.

Yes I agree. The performance (lack of) was probably also age depleting his reflexes, as but I personally think it was mostly due to Fury's damn effective size and style and his hard that big clown was to deal with

As good as Wlad is , a 6 foot 7-8 inch fighter that has good movement is extremely hard to reach and catch. Lol

Wlad did seem at a loss on what to do.

I'd say a mix of both

Physically he looks fine maybe it's mental

Another question is corner, can Banks teach Wlad new tricks. I didn't listen to the corner talk was the advice right?

I'm guessing they miscalculated furys speed and style difficulties. Maybe the postponement helped Fury. Maybe Fury getting in that shape was the difference

In a rematch Wlad probably is busier and better prepared, it'd be hard to do worse. Can fury get in that shape again and deal with any changes Wlad makes
