I quite gladly open up to fighters who do candid interviews. I was a big Calzaghe hater until I sat down and read his interview in boxing news, and it just made me really respect him a lot more. I've got nothing but respect for these boxers, but I must say people like Mayweather I cannot get away with. All money and no substance.

I agreed with most of this until I read the last sentence
Any MMA fighter worth anything would brutalize Pacquiao... & with extreme ease, he has a punchers chance & THATS IT, no more, no less.

However... Pacquiao is also my pick on this thread topic... but I ask much less of him.... fight Mayweather by whatever means necessary, thats all I ask.

Morales & Barrera would have wiped the floor with Pacquiao at those weights... it would have been an exciting fight between either & Pac at 122 & Pac would go the distance & bag some rds but those 2 at their peak at that weight class would have gave Pac a boxing lesson over the whole 12 with a bit of pain threw in for good measure.

    :good

I think they would too, but then again I don't think Pac's prime is in those weight classes. He's a natural Welterweight imo, he's too big for those guys prime for prime, but yes, they'd definitely have his number, maybe not so if Pac was in his prime at 122 though, that'd be fascinating.

    1. Your right, Erik did give Pac his props, its a pity only excuses were returned in kind by Pacquiao tho.

    2. Pacquiao is not, never has been & will never be good enough to beat Mayweather... his best bet is to hope the fight never gets made & have his delusional fans argue that he `could have.`

I agree that Pac is at his best now & Morales & Barrera`s best was at 122/126.... it would be fun to see the 2 Mexicans as WWs with the same ability & effectiveness as they had at those weights.... something tells me Manny wouldnt find things quite so easy as he has since the Diaz fight.

I generally take a liking towards humble and respectful fighters. Sergio Martinez and Manny Pacquiao come to mind.

He's not a natural WW, but he has gotten better technically since his days at FW.

He is such a good athlete, better than the three Mexican stars of his era so lets assume Pac was as polished as he is now fighting those guys at FW I think he beats them more than he loses.

I don't know. Just generally, the interview came across as kind of interesting and well, human. How he just lost the interest, realised he could lose if he kept going on, called it quits at the right time and hasn't yet came back and doesn't look to. Plus, his wife has really attempted to take all his money as well as Warren, and he's still just plodding on with his life trying to find something he can replace with boxing, apparently acting.

It was just kind of human to me, it wasn't arrogant, it wasn't "I'd beat this guy", it was just an honest interview, I was also quite pleased the whole Froch/Calzaghe thing had been cleared up too, its just good sportsmanship.

And about Pacquiao, I dunno man, I think he's definitely at his best either at 140 or 147. Either way, he's a better 147 fighter than say, Judah was, or maybe even Cotto.

:good calzaghe was one of the most honest fighters iv'e ever seen.. you only have to read his book "no ordinary joe" to see that.. a little too honest, sometimes.

I'm trying to think what Mayweahter could for me to like him. Oh yeah, that's right. Fight Pacquiao already. If he is as confident as he claims to be then this fight should have been made a long time ago. Yes, there are the test requirements he demanded that Pacquiao did not accept that kept this fight from been made but other fighters are fighting Pacquiao without demanding them. Furthermore, his retirement plan at a time that he could help create the mega fight of the century is unjustified. No wonder fans are turning against him. At this point, I think Mayweather needs Pacquiao more than Pacquiao needs him. Someone made a very good point in another thread. Pacquiao, in the Philippines, is a celebrity, a politician, a musician, an actor, among other things. Boxing is what defined him but he now has other attributes in life to be successful. Mayweather, on the other hand, only has boxing.
