Pac trounced the much bigger Horn, despite the home-cooked travesty of a decision. A win over either Spence or Crawford would put him in the top ten all-time, all-weights. But at this point, his chances would be around 0.1% or one in a thousand. I hope he's not considering this ridiculous proposition.
I don’t see top ten. Who would he displace? As for Horn, I thought the fight was close enough to go either way. I understand people that saw it differently. I just don’t think Crawford or Spence are that dominant at 147 to lift Pac into the top ten. I currently have him in the mid-twenties. Beating a prime Leonard or Hearns at 147, maybe. But not the current crop of welterweights.
Re:Horn: I saw it as 8-4. I could move to 9-3 easier than I could 7-5. Any other score I would see as outlandish. Horn barely survived the ninth round. Aside from that, I currently have him at 15, one spot behind Floyd. If , at 44, he was to beat a near prime, undefeated, dominant welter, I would have to move him up. Not sure where I'd put him...it's not an exact science, but probably somewhere between 7 and 10. 1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Sam Langford 3. Harry Greb 4. Muhammad Ali 5. Roberto Duran 6. Hank Armstrong 7. Bob Fitzsimmons 8. Willie Pep 9. Joe Louis 10. Ezzard Charles 11. Roy Jones Junior 12. Joe Gans 13. Sugar Ray Leonard 14. Floyd Mayweather 15. Manny Pacquaio 16. Archie Moore 17. Mickey Walker 18. Pernell Whittaker 19. Packy McFarland 20. Rocky Marciano 21. Barney Ross 22. Marvin Hagler 23. Jimmy Wilde 24. Tommy Hearns 25. Gene Tunney It's unfortunate that they haven't met to determine which one is best, but they are both very dominant in the division. To beat either one, both of whom are naturally much bigger, at age 44, would rank as one of the greatest wins of all time. But as I said, there is close to zero chance of him pulling this off. I don't think any version of Manny could beat a prime Hearns.
Great post. I had both Pac and Mayweather in the mid-twenties the last time I really thought about it but as you say, it is subjective. I saw the Horn fight as messy enough where there was no clear winner unlike when Crawford fought him. I agree that there is no way that any version of Pac beats prime Hearns or Leonard but that, in my opinion, is what would be necessary to consider putting Pac in the top ten. Crawford and Spence are the current champs at 147 but I wouldn’t rank either one in the atg top twenty at 147. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t move Pac out of the top twenty if he did manage to beat one of them.
Lewis announced his retirement in February 2004. I would never have guessed a 57 year old Lewis was older than Manny, thank you for highlighting that little known fact.
Well I believed a NSAC doctor diagnosed the retinal tear at the prefight medical, unsure how anyone can fake such a injury to the examining doctor. I thought he had the condition confirmed by eye specialist and that he underwent ophthalmic surgery to repair it. I would welcome to hear your view how Spence faked the condition, as perhaps you have info I am not aware of, I am always happy to learn.
Horn beat Pac. He manhandled Pac. And did you see Pacs face after the fight. a mess. Now Horn face was clean. no marks.
This content is protected Immediately after the fight. You must have scored every headbutt, elbow, rabbit punch, and foul as a scoring shot. Or just conveniently ignored the fact that 2 headbutts resulted in deep cuts on the side of Pac's head leading to blood streaming. That or your momma's heroin abuse whilst pregnant affected you more than we thought.

As Marcellus told Butch. Boxing doesn't have an old timers day. Crawford and Spence beat Manny by stoppage at this point. 10 years ago, 2 great fights with Manny having the edge.
