It would be 12 0 for FLoyd, FLoyd landing 90% of shots on "defensive wizard" Broner, while no footwork Broner would not be able to do ****.

Stylistically, there isn't even really a precedent to point to in Mayweather's past bouts to say it would be "most similar" to. :think

Judah and Chop are probably the slickest he fought - both southpaws and neither much resemble Broner in what they do in the ring. Sharmba Mitchell, ditto.

As for orthodox boxers, the slickest were maybe Sosa and Pep - and neither has much in common with Broner in attributes or craft. Both were a great deal taller and leaner and both fought more conventionally, working off their long jabs.

He never really fought a clone of himself before. (not that Broner is an exact Mayweather clone, his style is maybe 60% biting Floyd, 30% biting Toney and 10% his own thing, just speed-slugging almost like a Mosley or Berto...)

It wouldn't quite look the same as Mayweather vs. Mosley, either, because a) Broner probably wouldn't hurt Mayweather like that and b) Broner wouldn't have been as gun-shy as jittery old Mosley became for the rest of the night. Broner would have worked more and done overall better than old Mosley, but not had that single great moment either, and probably would get shut out or close to it.

Honestly it would maybe look most like a cross between the Augustus and Juuko matches. Both are comparable to Broner in height and reach. Juuko has the same build and top-heavy strong physique and uses the bait-and-burst pattern that Broner often falls into. Augustus had that loosey goosey, fun-having, big-time swagger in the ring and was perhaps another uncredited influence on Broner, whom I think I've seen try boxing opponents' ears while clowning them, and have definitely seen him perform wriggling dance moves while on the clock after making opponents miss.

...and yes I do realize I just wasted too much effort in feeding a troll, but it did give me something to ponder for a few minutes. :yep

It occurs to me there also is nothing on Broner's resume to draw comparisons to, because after the bit of luck with Quintero he was from then on for the most part only ever matched with a certain type of fighter. (come forward guys, slower than him - pretty much except for Malignaggi...)

He was green, and didn't have the athleticism of a Mayweather, but some of what brought Quintero success would probably rear its head in a Mayweather vs. Broner match: using false charges and stops, making Broner lunge, putting out right hand leads and then pulling back to counter Broner's counters...

...Broner also has some skills he might pull some rounds for himself, he has more power than Floyd i suppose

    Based on what?

    Broner is 24.

When Mayweather was his age he was down at lighter weights packing more of a punch and regularly fought aggressively, scoring more stoppages than he does now older and well above his prime weight.

Even head to head, right now at welter, I don't know that Broner can be said to have more power.

    At 147lbs:

Broner failed to drop Malignaggi or Maidana. (both down multiple times in their careers)

Mayweather hurt Guerrero, knocked Ortiz cold, bounced Hatton like a pinball off the turnbuckle, dropped Marquez, and knocked out Mitchell with a body shot.
