I mean, we've all seen Wink shut down much, much more proven fighters than Williams.

Winky getting stopped would have to be more of a shock.

    Even Hopkins didn't come close.

Hopkins hasn't stopped anyone since an undersized DLH. His game these days has very little to do with stoppages.

Winky's d makes him unlikely to be stopped, but I wouldn't say his surviving a Hopkins fight is that big of a deal.

I agree with your conclusion, but not so much the reasoning.

Fair point. I think we can agree though that at 170, Bernard hit harder and was a hell of a lot more physical than Williams will be at 160.

I'd be more surprised if Williams obliterates Winky. Winky's style is all wrong for Williams, just I've been picking Winky because I think he's going to be badly faded at this point. I don't think Williams can blow out even a badly faded Winky.

Nice Avatar lmao!! F*ckin Paul Bearer lol.

I would be more shocked if Winky got shut out cause no matter who he fights he puts in a good effort and is never easy to beat. Question is how will he be in this fight after a layoff and the loss to Hopkins.

Williams dominating Winky would be less shocking due to Winkys age and recent inactivity.

it would, to me, be the biggest shock if winky stopped williams. winky was never a big hitter at 154 and that limited power really did not come up with him to 160 or above. in addition, going for the knockout at any point in this fight would be all wrong for winky...whether he is leading or trailing, so i would be absolutely floored if williams got, well, floored. wright's potential advantage, if he has anything left, is that he can move and breathe in the ring and take williams into deep water with a consistent measured attack where he might win a decision.

both guys have good chins. winky is a battle-hardened vet and williams is a big, fresh young fighter...if anyone is going to be stopped in this fight, it is probably going to be winky, though i think he would have to get tired, frustrated, break down from age and give in to the pressure for that to happen.

i would be shocked if this does not turn out to be a close fight. i think that no matter what happens...even if winky looks ancient and rusty, he'll still use all his veteran style and guile to give the kid a run for his money...even if winky comes in rejuvenated and hot and starts putting a fast-paced clinic on the kid, i think williams will try different tempos, attacks, styles until he finds a way to make a fight of it and get through winky's defense enough to make him think twice and keep the fight on even terms. williams can always buy himself time in this fight behind the longer jab and winky can always get behind his defensive shell until williams gets close enough to rough him up on the inside. i expect these advantages to hold up.

the question of who gets the narrow victory will, i think, be answered by whether williams is greener than winky is overripe.
