What would be more damaging to Hatton's legacy?

    Losing to Witter

    or

    Never fighting him.

I'm making two assumptions here which may be unfair of me, but here goes:

    1. If he rematches PBF the outcome is the same
    2. He retires in the near future (1-2 years), as he has hinted at before

    Losing to him.

If he doesn't fight him nobody will care in years to come, especially if he beats Malignaggi/Pac/rematches Mayweather.

Without question losing to Witter. Unfortunately the general public don't know who Junior is, and as such wouldn't question the bout not materialising. If he were to lose to Witter he would lose a huge amount of credibility as he is seen as a world beater and to lose to an 'unknown' older domestic rival would be damaging to his reputation.

This coupled with the fact that he knows Witter NEEDS the bout against him, is why he will never take the bout.

Easy, losing to him. If Hatton doesn't fight Witter then in 20 years it will be a minor strike against him, nothing more.

Even if PBF dishes out the same again + Witter keeps winning. (I know I'm assuming again)

Are you surprised? Most people on here arn't blind huggers, they just happen to like particular fighters. There ARE plenty of blind haters on here though....;)

Hatton won't beat Maywether. But if he beats PauliM, Torres and say Pac or Diaz before losing to PBF then he'll have had a pretty good career IMHO.

    Mayweather's too good for Hatton.

I see no realistic scenario where Hatton beats Mayweather.

"a pretty good career"? He ticked that one off when he beat Tszyu.

I don't think anybody cares enough about Witter to make a case for the second option. His only claim to fame is that Hatton is ducking him. After Witter gets beat, which he inevitably will, people will look back and think "Even if Hatton did beat hi, it's obvious Witter wasn't great".

A win over Witter means a lot less than a win over Malignaggi.

I don't believe I am a blind hater. I first saw Hatton at MSG (think it was Naz V Kelley) and I've seen practically all of his televised fights. While I've never been a huge fan he was very exciting to watch. After the 24/7 build up I really wanted him to smash Mayweather.

My only real criticism of him is his refusal to fight Witter.

If Witter was promoted by Frank Warren and Ricky Hatton never existed, then the people on here who spend their time lauding his achievements and berating Hatton for 'ducking' him would instead be trashing his resume and lack of meaningful fights. Strange.
