What would be the general consensus here if Ward demanded a 171.5 lb CW for Kovalev?

I never defend a catch weight fight. I would rather not see the fight at all than see it at a catch weight. Ward can make 175 and be at least close to his best, I am not expecting him to move up and in my eyes it is not a duck if he stays at 168, Kovalev cant move down in weight and wouldn't like to see it happen just for an excuse to come out after the fight.

Ward would Ktfo Stevenson at ANY WEIGHT.

I get that Stevenson blasted out glass jawson, the LHW Geale.

But that's by far his best win, and guys are climbing over one another to fight him.

    Kovalev
    Fonfara wants more
Chavez Jr was trying to get him
    Beterbiev is licking his chops
    Pascal and BHOP.
Hell, even Bute was trying to get it by fighting bolonti for a minor WBC title.

    Ward ain't ducking Stevenson.
    I think vlasov WOULD KHTFO

I would like to see it and I think Kovalev beats Ward anyway.

Btw. Ward fought his last fight at 172. Its like GGG fighting at 164 and demanding a catch weight of 164.

Obviously situation is a bit different. Ward is fighting 4 pounds over SMW limit - He is a light heavy. Golovkin other hand is a true 160 pounder, even a bit small at the weight. He is willing to go down to 154 but he is also willing to meet the best of 168 at the catch weight of 164 - 4 pounds over his ideal weight. Thats about 176 in Ward terms :D :D

People have been explaining it. You're not listening.

Ward has no authority in asking for a catch weight. Zero. None. He is the c-side. He's not even ranked on most p4p lists because he's been doing absolutely nothing since 2012.

Golovkin on the other hand is fighting frequently, destroying the best opposition available (emphasize available) and becoming a crossover star. So, he has the right to ask for the b-side to make concessions just like what any other a-side has done (Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, Ward (when he used to be active, etc)).

This is how I feel, I voted unacceptable but that is a bit harsh. I would rather see the fight than not. But personally I think Ward is big enough to fight Kov at 175. Then somehow If Ward did beat him we wouldn't have dozens of threads on here about how Ward drained him.

I do think Kovalev knocks Ward out at 175... If Ward were to beat him and unify the division, he would gain ATG status for me.

Not acceptable just move up in weight same for GGG fighting Ward, GGG should move up to 168
