Charles v Tunney and Spinks v Foster are my two top picks. A nice little tournament with a great champ crowned which ever wins!

I’d want to learn something so it should pit a modern vs an old timer.

    Jeffries vs Marciano
    Johnson vs Frazier
    Fitzsimmons vs Louis

I don't think Louis, Frazier and Marciano are considered modern

Certainly they are. No fighter today displays the level of skill of any of these great hwt champions. And it’s not close.

    Awesome bout.

Rocky Marciano vs. Andre Ward, Rocky beating the **** out of some arrogance.

You telling me Lomachenko isn't as skilled as Rocky Marciano? And it's not even close? Jesus ****ing Christ

And just because they don't show there skill (in your opinion) doesn't make them not modern

    We are talking heavyweights.

Over and above this no fighter is an ATG unless they exhibit ATG characteristics. Louis, Frazier and Marciano’s books have been written. All proven ATG fighters. Lomanchenkos book has yet to be written. Unproven entity in comparison.

No we're actually in a thread about light heavyweights. So me bringing up Lomachenko is as normal as you naming 5 HWs and a MW...
    1. That's your opinion. Imo it's if they make top 100 pfp or top 10 in there weight class. Or give an account of themselves to be worthy of that.
    2. We're not talking about ATG characteristics. We're talking about skill. You said that no one today is as skilled as Louis, Marciano or Frazier. I named Lomachenko (who fights today) and said he's more skilled. Do you agree?
Books do not equal skill. They equal stories. Dempsey hasn't the 10th of Lomachenko's technical skill. He has multiple books. Loma doesn't.
Completely irrelevant. He has shown skill at a world level that is levels above Marciano's. Regardless of heart, grit and determination. He has shown more technical skill than Rocky

No. Skill also entails intrinsic qualities.

No fighter today displays Louis powerful combination punching. No fighter today Bob’s and weaves like Frazier to avoid punches, no fighter today displays Marciano’s lean and parry abilities.

Lomenchenko may fail in his first really difficult encounter. Whatever skills he displays may fall to the wayside once he is hit, cut and hurt. We already know what Frazier, Marciano and Louis performed under such circumstances.

    And Lomachenko's Footwork > Marciano's defence.
Lol what? Not only is Lomachenko's footwork leagues better than Marciano's ability to Lean and Parry. Lomachenko is better at leaning and parrying than Marciano
Watch this. A really difficult challenge. An World class opponent. Loma showed everything you want in it and showed better technical skill than Marciano.

I was just watching your HW tournament video. I agree with your picks, I just think Tyson decisions Ali.

Haven't read all the posts but here goes.
Conteh-Galindez: summer of 75. John had yet to deal with his fragile right hand issues and Victor hadn't been in numerous protracted wars. Many fans see both of them from a total historic standpoint; Read: their lackluster performances when they were both past prime. The WBA/WBC screwed this incredible matchup to pieces.
Spinks-Gregory (at the time they fought) without Eddie's ballooning into a Heavy for the Snipes 'scrap'.
Had Eddie remained at LH and put a top LH contender, or 2, to sleep instead of moving up to fight Snipes he, IMO, would have taken a somewhat wide UD against the Jinx. He showed up for Michael looking like a shrived pear (having to lose so much weight in the week prior to the fight) and still had a comfortable lead midway through the fight.
There are better ones than this; actually the LH's at the time had many matchups that never occurred: Ahumada-Lopez for example...
    And several matchups decades earlier.
