What would constitute a good card, free and PPV?

All it has to be is 5 fights, one of them for a a world title eliminator or a ebu title and maybe one for the commonwealth or British title. 50-50 fights.

we are fed up of seeing 10 fights and all of the opponents are walkovers when at the same time on that card is someone at the same weight class and both of those should be fighting each other instead. Yards and Arthur upcoming fights are a good example

There's a real lack of competitive bouts being made and its all about carefully turning people into stars from their debut rather than putting them all through Area, British, European and World level and seeing who comes out on top. Fowler, Benn, Kelly, Buatsi etc haven't even won a British Title and are fighting for Intercontinental Titles against Eurobums and random Mexicans, in the hope they can manufacture a title shot. We are missing out on big domestic fights and good Euro Title Fights on free to air and i'm surprised Kelly v Avanesysan happened but the result showed how poorly Kelly been matched before. Ritson and Okolie did it the right way, albeit Okolie may be the worst ever fighter to watch. In terms of PPV, it should only be reserved for world title fights between elite fighters, putting together a standard 'free to air' Saturday Night Card then slapping Whyte or Chisora on the top of the bill is not PPV, neither is adding Katie Taylor or a mismatch with a big name.

Froch vs Bute was none PPV back in the day so world Title fights on regular subscription should not be out of the question.
I suppose we are getting Skid vs Dickens as a standard fight but only because Eddie is now with DAZN and they dont do PPV as yet.
If he was still with Sky you can guarantee that fight would be propping up an AJ, Whyte or Del PPV.

I have warmed to Okolie i think his last fight was fantastic although he fought a well past his best off the sofa Glowacki, but after that performance i really want to see him again.
Loving the big Dennis Avatar as well mate.

Bolded bit - Both promoters and fighters have been consumed by the fear of losing an 0 and it's really hurting the sport.
Conor Benn who hero worships his old man should take a look at his Dad's career - he suffered 2 bad losses early on (Watson and Eubank), did it finish Nigel Benn's career ?? No, in fact he improved after each loss, steadily getting better by testing himself against all comers.
As you said there seems to be a recurring theme lately of British boxers fighting almost exclusively nobodies and then getting thrashed the first time they step up because they've barely learnt anything as a pro thanks to the thrash a Belarusian bricklayer circuit that Matchroom and others employ.
But I'm not expecting Eddie to change this, he's already started as he means to go on with DAZN - one semi decent fight per card with an additional 5 or 6 mismatches

He's certainly earned my respect with the Ngbabu and Glowacki wins, getting good stoppages in both. He never shied away from fighting the British Crusierweights about at the time either even though they turned into hug fests. He's definitely established himself at world level and can be in some good fights, would love to see the Makabu unification.

He's the ultimate pudding I just wish there was better footage of him breaking the stool against Cyril Leonet.

Both Makabu and Briedis in any order (wins both by KO) then up to HW. I think he becomes a force at HW as well he has all the tools.
I would go as far at to say he will be the next face of British boxing after AJ retires (next 2 years) as the casuals will love him, he may even fight AJ.

Okolie hasn't had his chin tested yet, that's the only question mark for me, if he can pass that test then I agree with you he has the tools to make it at HW.

Benn has never been on PPV but they are building him to be a star. You dont sell 20k overnight. If they keep picking the right fights he will sell those number no doubt. Likely against Marku.

You have to remember the fight camp cards have 300 fans so lose all revenue and are effectively a loss leader. If he only spends £1.5/2m on the fight camp schedule it frees up £2/3m to spend on a PPV level fight further down the line.

Out of interest do you think Hearn is not out to make a profit being a businessman? But he will lose the contract in a heartbeat if he doesnt deliver. So far in the US he has been delivering with Canelo, GGG, AJ vs Ruiz and Haney. He has also put on the likes of Estrada vs Chocolatito etc if we get great conent for a low price whats with the negative attitude?

Good responses all round. Personally, I think Hearn has made a noose for his own neck by being too lenient with fighters and acting as a pal instead of a promoter and paying too much. It's either PPV or a fight against a schlub who will turn up for a few grand. The only way we as punters can change this is to vote with our feet which means not watching as much boxing. If the money isn't there, the fighters will still fight but purses would be more realistic. This is fantasy land however as the horse has already bolted and people have become accustomed to paying for rubbish cards. Even PPV has snuck up from 15 to 20 quid and non title fights are PPV. We need to stop buying them or nothing will change.

Hearn is out to earn more than the fighters mate, this is the reason we are getting the shocking matchmaking we are at the moment.
He need to deliver for DAZN i agree but for #GAMECHANGED i'm not seeing any change, i personally think Fight Camp is far worse this year than last year.
IMO Hearn hasn't delivered on Sky for the last 3-4 years and i cannot see him delivering on DAZN either. Hearn is the biggest fraud in boxing talks the talk but never walks the walk, he is all mouth but hey its his job.
I can assure you now we WONT be getting great content just a lot of women's boxing and 1-100 on mismatches.
He is only delivering 'great content' to casuals that DKSAB im afraid.

Do you think that Okolie will fight vs Makabu or Briedis for something like 250k? I suspect that no. They are not ring rusty post covid Glowacki coming out from KO loss. Okolie now does have valuable belt, WBO World Title, this too will increase his monetary demands.

If about this Briedis, looks that Eddie talked and talked since march until looks that IBF had ordered for Briedis manadatory and they started negotiations.
If Briedis will loss this fight, he will not needed for eddie to book anymore.
If he will beat his mandatory, he will become even more money hungry and maybe will sit next 8- 9 months after this without fight.
If Briedis will have belt, eddie for sure will need 7 digits sum to start negotiations and Briedis then might not agree on eddie casual clauses. He might reject one sided rematch clause offers.

Maybe Makabu might be easier to negotiate with and get fight with him earlier. Still doesn't looks that not for some 200-300k.

Might Okolie generate money for his purse and his opponents purse today?
    He isn't A.J or Fury.

If it’s that easy someone else would have swooped in and gave the fans what they want. Stacked cards all for free. Truth is it isn’t.

If you think it would be remotely possible to put Wilder, Fury, Usyk and AJ all on the same card given the purses, promotional companies and TV rights involved then you are living in cuckoo land
