What would Cotto have to do to become a ATG?

To the TS's question, 1. It depends what you mean by ATG. As in, do you have a number. 2. If you mean as in the top 100 fighters of all time, Cotto would have a nearly impossible time. Because he doesn't look as unbeatable at his best as some of the other greats. He looks vulnerable in a lot of his best wins. So, H2H he really gets trampled. Then, and I just woke up so I probably don't have my typing mojo working but, Cotto was never the linear champion in any of these three weight classes. Never really had a claim to be. Not once did he unify titles. He was only really even thought by a large part of people to be the top guy at welterweight, for a short period of time right? Just before Margo. Not the linear champ, but the top name at the weight at the time, to a lot of us, after Mayweather retired and before the Margo fight. Then he lost. That was a matter of what, like a month or something? There you go.

At 140, Tszyu then Hatton were linear during Cotto's 140-pound title run. At 147, Mayweather was linear then retired. Then a Margo loss. Now at 154 the majority think while there isn't really one clear man, Martinez and Dzinziruk are the top dogs with a belt. No unifications, no linear claims, no wins over unarguably great fighters in their primes, was soundly beaten by the best he ever fought. Not ATG material, in my opinion. I also doubt he can have a major case for longevity as I see him being past his prime in his late twenties, and talking about retirement in the near future. That's why I can't see him has a top 100 type fighter. HOF, definitely. 15-2 in world title fights. 3 division titlists, four-time world champion, beaten 12 or more champions, including one clear future HOF in Mosley. Been in tons of televised fights, some of them big PPV events. HOF definitely, ATG as in anything in the top 100, not for me.

Yeah, although if it were up to me, just getting Zab Judah to yell at Arthur Mercante Junior "He hit me in my dick, man!" would make you an honorary ATG at least.

Unify at 154. 5 or 6 defenses after the unification. He will not fight that many times in his career. A win over Maravilla for the true and linear middleweight championship of the world. A victory over Pacroid or Mayweather.

Four very tough roads to greatness
