Nothing. He's already there Schooled top 10 ATG Klitschko. Dominated the biggest puncher in the history of the sport 3 times And most of all, retired undefeated. A win over Usyk would simply make him the greatest of all time considering Usyk himself is the greatest southpaw of all time and a top tier ATG heavyweight.
I don't think it is possible at this point. Sometimes perception is more than reality. Had he just fought Wilder very early 2021 and he were the one to beat Joshua later in the year, he could have said that he dominated an era. He is not going to be able to do that, and, even if he makes it good by beating Joshua and Usyk, Joshua is a busted flush, and if he beats Usyk, a large proportion will say he just beat a crusier. Who else has any gravitas at all to beat?
No heavyweight boxer today could achieve this, not ATG and definitely not top 10 ATG. No matter what they do, it's such a weak division that it counts for so little. The closest any of them can come, which isn't close at all, is Usyk. He was undisputed at cruiserweight, itself even weaker than heavyweight, and if he becomes undisputed at heavyweight, that does count for something, at least.
Lmao. If a young heavyweight prospect lets say 25 years old won a title, became undisputed a year later, and defended his belts twice a year until he retired undefeated at age 40 that is easily top 10, thats actually top 5. Even if a older guy like Usyk beat Joshua again, beat Fury, and defended his titles 2 or 3 times a year until he retired at 41 that puts him in the back of top 10. While it probably wont happen, it is possible for an active heavyweight fighter today (probably a very young fighter) to end up a top 10 ATG and the chances of it happening aren't that small
He needs to clear out his generation before retiring for a start. Currently, there are still 3 unbeaten Olympians that are older than Fury. Depending on how high he wants to rank, is how much he wants to prolong his career, and ultimately how much damage he is willing to take
I Would like him to beat Usyk. Joshua and Hrgovic then he can rest in retirement. Hrgovic should be the guy to beat in a few years from now.
The bar is much lower for Usyk. If he were to beat Joshua again and then Fury, and then retire, he would be retiring as a two division champion with eight wins over seven titleists. Screw being a top ten "heavyweight." He would be in pfp uber-elite of boxing, period.
Fight and beat the Usyk vs Joshua winner (Usyk) in a unification. Then instead of throwing away the belts actually defend them against the respective mandatories, for at least 3 fights. I think he'd be there if he manages that (not impossible).
He needs to beat the winner of Usyk/AJ This way he can lay claim to beating the best of his era. I personally think he will fight one more time, the allure of that fight would be too big and the pressure he’d get everywhere he went would sway him. Plus let’s be honest the money would be insane.
