What do you think could get more casuals into Boxing like the 90's? I think Boxers need more mainstream exposure. Why isn't Bermane Stiverne on mainstream talkshows? Or these other Boxers. They need to be showcased better. Plus create Boxing videogames and action figures like they did Mike Tyson.
Because most fighters are not loudmouth shittalking self promoters, with skills to back it up. Therefore people don't care. Boxing needs more personality, more genuinely entertaining characters so the shallow casuals have a reason to care.
Floyd brings in casuals (worldstarhiphop type crowd). They make up a majority of the current *****s who DKSAB and are found all over the internet and on this forum.
Fighters giving the public fights they want to see is the main one. Look how people turned out in their droves for Froch v Groves II Also, stuff like Mayweather and Pacquiao's upcoming fights do not belong on PPV (mayweather- Canelo fine, Pacquiao- Bradley fine). Just put them on regular HBO or whatever
Stiverne doesn't do talk shows because he isn't all that comfortable doing interviews in English. Generally speaking, fighters are showcased as well as they can be...considering the violent nature of their profession. As a result, combat sports will never be as mainstream as Basketball ,Football or Baseball.
Go back to the way boxing was when it WAS mainstream: * 15 round fights * refs who had the balls to let fights go to their natural conclusion (i.e. eliminate early stoppages, and punish refs who stop fights before somebody hits the canvas) * strict enforcement of rules against excessive holding
I pay for sky sports subscription then have to pay a box office fee for the bigger fights. Every once in a while a fight goes viral and everyone pays up. More often than not people don't care. Subscription based sports networks ruined boxing, in the UK at least.
