Floyd Mayweather had met Ricky Hatton in the same ring as Tzsyu did. Same Hatton, same ref, same crowd, same Hatton tactics(albeit dirty ones), same everything except it was Mayweather in the red corner instead of Tzsyu. I'm talking purely hypothetical here. Could you see Hatton winning? Would boxing history have been re written?

Sorry, i've seen a couple of hatton threads recently and this is something i have always wondered, as Mayweather was a light welter around that time. Would appreciate your educated thoughts :good

Mayweather would of won on PTS rather than KO. Hatton would of still taken same path and been KTFO by Pacman.

yeah maybe, but i don't know. Same slightly biased referee and judges, same Hatton workrate and intensity? I know Mayweather is a truly exceptional boxer and is a few classes above Hatton (maybe in his own class?) but i just think on that night.............with Hattons strength and size....could you not see it happening

A loss at that stage of his career might have been a blessing for Ricky. He seriously needed his ego deflated.

I don't think it would have been like the Gatti fight.

As entertaining as Gatti was, he wasn't much more than a lion hearted clubfighter - he shouldn't be compared to Hatton by any stretch.

IMO - it would have been pretty much how their fight turned out, weight wasn't a major factor.

Beeston i think Gatti was as good as Hatton. You got to remember Gatti started off as a SFW and outboxed a good champion in Patterson (who incidently had a great last nme) he then moved up with mixed sucess but he still was a good fighter

Hatto has a big win over Tszyu then he beats champions who aint that good like Maussa and Urango. And he gets a gift over Collazo.

No chance mate. That was a close fight, I've scored it twice and had Hatton by 2 the first time and by 1 the second. No way was that a 'gift' decision.

You're right about Hatton/ Gatti though....

dont you think the hatton that met tszyu was a different beast to the one that met mayweather, add the weight, the crowd the whole shebang.............maybe? i like to think he might have broke him down and stopped him. i'm a fan so i'm biased.

OK its not a gift but its close

Gatti is a decent fighter i hate how hes either rated as a great fighter or called a jumped up club fighter when in reality hes in between them.

Love Gattis early fights as he was a tall boxer-puncher nothing like teh guy that fought Ward
