Micky Ward nearly cut him in half with bodyshots as well..... not a good sign in this matchup.

Hatton does have a better defence.... in the pre-Tszyu days he used to use upper body movement - you could watch Urango early rounds for that also, but Gatti doesn't load up his punches from 200 miles away as Urango did.

As for the original point, I think it would have been a tough fight for Floyd. I wouldn't go as far as saying Hatton would have won, but it would have been MUCH tighter than when they did meet.

Mayweather had big advantages in home turf, referee, and weight when they fought. They'd all swing Hatton's way if the fight took place in 2004 in Manchester.

Tight fight IMO, definitely a points job, you have to favour Floyd but Hatton winning is a possibility. Quite remote, but possible.

A touch closer, with him maybe bagging a round or two but same result. Broken and beaten after 10.

Ricky hatton was made for Floyd watch the fight they had, Hatton can't land anything affective because all his punches are hitting shoulders , arms, or rolling past Floyds head , Mayweather's to much of a defenise genius.

too much class at any weight, clear win for Floyd everytime

Mayweather by decision is a sensible conclusion.

Hatton was very rarely competetive in the fight to be honest, so its impossible to comprehend him winning it in any scenario. He only landed a few clean punches, was getting countered on the outside and bullied even inside. So if he's getting beat up inside and outside it hardly matters who the ref or venue is.

I do think Hatton got frustrated and took more chances due to the ref, that hastened his downfall I believe.

No chance, he might of just lost clearly on points rather than getting KTFO tho, as he may have been less fustrated (and therefore not ran into punches) from not being able to get in close and the point deduction.

With all due respect to Gatti (RIP), he didnt have a whole lotta boxing to abandon in the 1st place.

It actually still hurts my brain trying to figure out why he ever thought he could beat Mayweather by using a boxing style, it really does.

Give it up mate, there is absolutely 0 chance of a Hatton victory over Mayweather no matter which stage in their careers they fought.

Ps. you should apologize for even thinking that Hatton could KO/TKO Mayweather, that is truly one of the most mental things Ive heard this year.

 i feel quite priveleged that my thoughts are the among the most mental you have heard this year. what if i told you that my excrement is sometimes sprinkled with a generous portion of peanuts, even though i never eat peanuts. (i am assuming they are peanuts as that is what they most closely resemble afer the fleeting glimpse i get when i have closed proceedings, my view is obviously hampered by the lumps of paper and the urine contributing to some of the solid breakdown, a detailed analysis would confirm the presence of peanuts but this is not available at this time, but still rather mental i feel)

Ps. prime castillo v prime hatton?

Pps. i can somtimes feel a nobbly grinding sensation when the solid is making its way down the canal, this just fuels my concern.

Mayweather still would have absolutely dominated him, Floyd is of a different breed, the last in the line of boxing artists that make everything look so easy, a line that includes Leonard, Whitaker, Roy Jones, fighters of that calibre ..

The most energetic, hard working version of Ricky Hatton still wouldnt have won a round because his style cannot beat a slick fighter like Mayweather .. To beat Floyd you need range, speed and you need to be able to box fluidly with adaptability .. He's not unbeatable, nobody is but a fighter needs to be of the calibre of Hearns, Leonard, Duran, Curry, maybe Trinidad or Quartey but it would really have to be a fighter of that high quality and Hatton comes up short ..

I'd be interested in a Pernell Whitaker v Floyd matchup, what a chess match that would be, i'd edge towards Floyd but Pernell was a seriously savvy operater ..

As for Hatton i'd like to see him in with Chavez or Pryor, they could be 2 tasty little scraps with Hatton trying so so hard but in the end coming up short once again ..

As for Gatti v Hatton .. That would be a nice scrap but i think Gatti would have got the better of it, Gatti was able to soak up so much punishment and fire back over and over again .. He also picked his shots far better than Hatton ..

Ricky Hatton had one great performance that was based on tremendous workrate, stamina and a will to win in his biggest fight, AGAINST a Tszyu in his last fight who couldnt get that big right hand off ..
His fights with Collazo, Urango, Lazcano left alot of questions in people's minds about his ability because these guys are C - Grade fighters ..

On that night in 2005 at home, as charged up as he was he would have been a handfull for anybody, but i just dont think he ends up winning against any of the top guys and i think Gatti being not a top fighter himself was still a better fighter than Hatton

Ever since the Pac K.O, I think Ricky's been so under-rated. He wasn't in Mayweather league and I believe 10/10 PBF beats him everytime though.
