What would Hrgovic's chances be against fighters like Parker or Kabayel...

I think Hrgović lost some fire since his pops died. Lack of heart is too harsh tho.

 

The guy has all the tools but I just never got the feeling he wants it bad enough to reach the top. Just my opinion.

 

I'm not sure he even has all the tools.

He has a solid chin, decent enough power and no quit.

But he lacks stamina (bigtime) and he's far from a complex fighter - when ring IQ comes into it, he's lacking something... Winning on points? Only really possible against someone with the exact same limitations (eg: Zhang).

At heavyweight, you can get away with those limitations up to a point - but then there's a definite ceiling (and not a glass ceiling, a cold thick granite ceiling) above which there's only a punchers chance, and only in the early rounds at that.


Stamina can be improved (and why hasn't it?!), punch selection and ring tactics can be taught if a fighter is willing and able to learn (so why hasn't he?!)... I just see a fighter who's going nowhere - who either doesn't care enough to fix the flaws, or is too stupid to realize they're even there and/or too boneheaded to listen if they're told so.

 

Hurgovic has failed to show an edge which is needed to take the next step

He's still capable but he needs to focus and bring some energy again. Was a very good version of Dubious that beat him though. No shame in that but now is the time to get the ball rolling instead of laying back. Same way Dubious lost against Joyce, get back on that horse and grind away. Dubious was much younger though.

Let's say the bodybuilding bum (AJ) can't find a fight and Hurgovic is the only option, I'd favour Hurgovic but he has to be focused on that job and be ready for it on one camps notice should it come through the door

Ultimatly the entire crop below Fury & Usyk can win and lose out to one another quite easily. None of them are much a cut above the other.
