what would it take for the heavy weight division to enter the lime light again?

it needs to be promoted as being totally badass, the way MMA is. the younger generations don't look at boxing the way they used to.

We won't have less champs anytime soon unless Haye sacks up and fights one of the Klitschko's. When Vitali retires in 1-2 years, some promoter will say we say influence the WBC and create another champion.

This combined with the WBA shenanigans won't help define the division.

I do agree that the division needs more activity from the top ten contenders. We need more matches like Adamek vs. Arreola, or Povetkin vs. Chambers.

    1. An exiting champion with the kind of charisma of either a Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson, along with a generation of fine talented contenders and prospects to make for more appealing fights.

    2. Better and more ethical governance of the sanctioning bodies, ( and perhaps even getting rid of a few of them. )

    3. More generous broadcasting of bouts, and less pay per view events, with better and more meaningful undercards.

    4. Less men fighting who are over the age of 38.... Getting a bit tired of that.

    5. Getting rid of corrupt promotors and replacing them with businessman who have the FAN's interest in mind.... Not their own...

You make a good point. That said, I cringe at the thought of Wlad wearing Affliction t-shirts. That **** is so wack. Should Odlanier Solis get a septum ring? MMA is marketed like nu-metal. LAME.

    A champion with personality.
The division is not as week as people think it is. Is it at its best? No, however with some excaptions such as the 1970's the division is never really that deep. Usualy there are one or two domminit boxers Who would be champions in any eara (in some cases they would be cruiserweights today)and a list of contenders who might be top 10 at iny time in history.
That is what we have today.

    The Lion Returns!
Lennox Lewis comes back and beats up Wlad, Vitali again, Haye and Adamek.

Active, always in shape, dominating heavyweights with an ounce of charisma who speak good English and dont have a brother in the same weight class. Haye would be the logical choice but it just doesn't seem to be going as smoothly as you'd hope.

Just good fighters, it could very well happen. Good fighters= a good era. If a good amount of good fighters come at the same time, we will have a good era. It's simple. It's more to do with talent than it is the fighters being too big or out of shape imo. These fat fighters aren't good so them being fat is not the main issue with the era being poor.

Its still in the limelight just with a more eastern tilt then before.look at the crowds the kilts get and tell me it ain't in the limelight.also the divison is pretty stacked.look at the top 5 http://www.ringtv.com/ratings/heavyweight/ its alot better then alot of weightclass.the divison is lot better then after lennox left.only real problem is there is two kilts instead of one
