What would Kessler have to do to be rated over Calzaghe?

Who would he have to beat and what would he have to accomplish?

Win the tournament. Unify 168. Then win a couple of belts at 175.

H2H he still gets beat but by then his record will be pretty damn impressive.

wow, its not an easy task

first off he'd have to win the super six

then hed have to step up and beat maybe hopkin and dawson

even if he did all that, there would always be the stigma attatched that calzaghe beat him at the age of 36

Not much he can do. He can't defend his title undefeated for as long as Calzaghe, and he can't beat Hopkins (arguably the best boxer of the last 10-20 years) while he's still a real pfp great. Kessler will have to settle for second best. That's assuming he can win the tournament, which is by no means a done deal.

    To be rated ABOVE JC?
He would have to KO every opponent in the Super 6. Then the left overs at 168.
Move up and wipe out 175. Not just a few at 175. Clean it.
And I think he does beat Hopkins.
Why you think Hopkins turned down a lucrative offer right after the JC fight and took Pavlik instead ...

Let's say just at 168, not pound for pound?

The 175 part isn't necessary, just the first two (provided that by "win the tournament" you mean "go undefeated and either stop or thoroughly dominate everybody" - and that unification includes bouts with Bute and Pavlik).

H2H he could very well have won a rematch had he fought the Calzaghe of the Hopkins or Jones fights. People underestimate his ring intelligence, he would have studied the loss closely and established a workable gameplan.

Win the tournament and keep on cleaning out the division, including lightheavyweight.

Beating everyone in the Super 6 convincingly, Bute after, moves up and beats Chad or Bernard would do it in my book.

Win Super Six/Clean out division is a good start. Tough task. Maybe fight Dawson for a title at 175 if Dawson is still #1 there then.
